I will talk with my chief design engineer for the 16v project and see if we can release a teaser.
Can't do that until the first of the month though.

This is really great. I cant wait to see what you come up with for the '85 to '86.5 intakes.

Could you also make a radiator cover to go with it pls? Something like this picture, and maybe with the "928" logo engraved in the plastic instead of the Porsche crest in front.

+1 on having it powdered coated black with black couplers for that stock look too. TIA

Got some more dyno results for you guys to pick over for us. Before EIS and after EIS installed.

Did an '87 with X-pipe

Rogers GTS with lots of work.

The last ones are from my '88, x-pipe

These are in PDF files, hope they load and show up.

are these baseline runs (2 of them each)?

looks like first two are pretty identical. the last looks like a fuel mixture difference. How that last one get so rich?

curious.

The runs with and without the EIS went very well.

87 S4 Auto - Stock with an X pipe with High Flow Cats = gained 5.9 RWHP & 13 Torques
93 GTS Auto - S3 Street Cams with an X pipe with High Flow Cats = gained 6.6 RWHP & 8.8 Torques
88 S4 Auto - Stock with an X pipe with High Flow Cats = gained 9.5 RWHP & 11.2 Torques

Mongo the 87 S4 was with your brain

Don't show up in the thread but downloadable.

Your '88s4 is running leaner (12-13 vs. 11-12, which is good) and making like 9-10 more hp, that sort of makes sense. The '87 is running a little richer over most of the run, and making 6 more hp, which makes less sense. And Roger's car makes no sense, but as long as Roger is happy

Do these MAF's all have screens on the intake side?

How about cam timing, do you know anything about how they are set?

Anything different about the stock intake on the '87 vs. your '88?

The AFR all depends on what the MAF says about the air flow, and only samples the middle-- inside the little venturi. As long as the flow characteristics are consistent then that is fine.

The stock S4+ intake, where the MAF meets the airbox, is basically a cut-off straight pipe, no bell-mouth to speak of. So, if I understand this stuff correctly (which is unlikely) the flow near the the end of the pipe (i.e. where the MAF sensor is) will be slower on the edges, faster in the center. So the MAF reads a bit higher than it would with a more uniform flow, making the mixture a bit richer.

A longer pipe will make the flow more uniform, the MAF will read a bit lower (for the same total flow), which means less fuel and a leaner mixture. That would explain why the new intake runs a bit leaner (in most cases). The S4+ LH is mapped overly rich on top so this is probably just fine.

Good work!

Missed this, my apologies.

Rogers GTS makes no sense to me either

All of the MAF's do have screens attached and the cam timing on the GTS and the '87 is set to factory -2/0. The timing on mine.....I dunno....have not touched it in 4 years when we did the belt and just have not taken the time to put the 32Vr on it.

The intakes are the same, nothing done to them. I've did a top end re-fresh on the '88 2 years ago and a year ago on the '87. The only difference is new flappy bearings on the '87.

Thanks for the information, gives me a bit more understanding.
