This prototype will next be fitted to a "barn-door" style 16V.

S3 is still on the table, but will require a more sophisticated prototype and method of manufacture. All doable. Just going to take time and money. Hang tight, my friend.

Yes, provisions will be made for the temp sensor.

I'm answering for Roger because I think he may be up north somewhere, hunting wild animal.
Ah, thanks. Standing by...

It can be powder coated in any color you want, including "Caution Orange".

I was just kidding.

Mine's a 2-valver anyway, no cool parts for me.

While I'm on this thread, I was messing around in the shop today and made a couple of cones for my EIS system. Logic tells me it should flow air a little better. I doubt I'll feel any difference but it was something to do. Material is plastic, epoxied to the metal cone cap. First pic is the stock setup with a plastic cone that is bigger than the filter point. I think it may cause some turbulance. The 2nd pic is my modified cone with the width matching the cone top, and hopefully less turbulance and better flow.

Going to play Devil's Advocate here for a moment.

Love the looks of the system and find the performance gains very interesting, but two things worry me:

1: Normally only a "What engine oil should I use" thread generates more flak than a "Is a KN filter a good thing" one. In the latter, there's usually no shortage of warnings about the MAF being ruined by oil deposits from the oil in the filter. If I'm not mistaken, the cone filters in this system works the same way as a KN filter, so won't they have the same problem with the oil - IF it is a problem ?

2: Indications are that test subject cars are running leaner and most seem happy about this. Worries me though, unless the car is running too-rich in stock mode, as I have heard about engine meltdowns from running too lean (in general; no 928-specific info).

Regards,
Erling

Erling GP,
Re 1: I think the oil/MAF issue has more to do w/how close the filter is to the MAF, being right above it.
Not the case here.

Why???

Not the case here
Also, over oiling is what really kills the MAF wire. This one is not over oiled.

I would guess that Sean means that a more blunt tip has a higher angle of attack. Though the laminar flow would be destroyed by the filter mesh IMHO.

More to go out.
I have to get a set put to one side for powder coating as a lot on the list want a stealth PC finish.

Brad,
You are on the list - what color connectors? red, blue or black?

I would like the blue. Please e-mail me before you close up the box incase i think of something else that you can ship at the same time.

Brad
