Well we just returned from the first EIS system dyno session.
Lot more detail to come but I am happy with the result.

On an 88 S4 automatic with a well maintained engine and an X pipe we gained an average of 8.5 RWHP and 5 RWT. This was after fitting the new EIS.
The car has circa 200k miles. Three pulls and with the car still on the dyno another three pulls with the new system. Very obvious that more gains could easily be made with shark tuning.

On Jim's GTS we got about 5 RWHP but his car is not stock. We will have the dyno charts later.

Another run next Thursday on another stock S4 just to make sure the numbers are repeatable.

Roger,
thanks for taking the time to test the system out to show that it not only looks great but performs also.
8.5 RWHP is great as I was hopeing for around 10HP at the crank and looks like the test shows it was alittle more.

Just checked my video capture. The initial dyno TQ was 299-301 stock intake system. After was 307-309.8 TQ.

Freaking sweet.

So, no doubt, a definite increase, versus a questionable one with simply switching to a k&n over a paper factory one. AND, it's a work of art. Well done...

First Batch of 12 intake systems is sold out - thank you.

For the second batch (waiting list open) we will be adding the option of powder coated finishes.
Prices to be announced later after we have had a couple PC'd.

Thanks for all your interest and support.

I just thought I'd put this out there.

I've had it installed for a few days now and the throttle response seems to be much better, more crisp. It may just be me, but it feels better than it did before.

No but we are working on a system that will.
It will be interesting to see how well the Y-pipe does on a S3. IIRC, Louie was putting the equivalent of a toilet wax ring on S4-up airbox bottoms to make them breathe better. The floor is near flat compared to a S3 or 16V which has at least a small bellmouth.

I could see that SharkTuning may help the S4, because airflow through the MAF may be less turbulent, which may change the curve. My suggestion: find a well running S4 with X-pipe, tune it to the new setup (but don't go for the max), then provide a stock+ chip along with the EIS package.

Maybe the airbox bottom is the mysterious airflow stealer at high rpm that I log on my S3s...

If this thing works for S3s, I'll probably try to see if a custom S300 LH chip makes it better...

Excellent suggestion PorKen, but would that S4 chip mapping be also valid for those of us that have to run cats for emissions compliance?

I found in testing my S3 chips that the fueling with cats was fine (for emissions tests) after tuning for the X-pipe.

I did a lot of swapping back and forth (good to have a 4-post lift), thinking I might have to make two versions, but found that cats really just limit how much airflow the MAF sees at WOT, cruise and idle were not really affected. The O2 loop keeps the cats happy most of the time anyway.

There really aren't that many performance options for S3s or S4s, so it's not unreasonable to make a generic stock+ chip, as most folks are running a stock chipset without much problem.

... Still hoping to get mine to the dyno to compare the stock airbox to my splitter setup...
