Looks good but having the filters so close to the MAF, will the air have enough time to stabilize before hitting the MAF? At least on the '85 32V, the MAF does NOT like any kind of air turbulance.

Than the stock version with the filter sitting right on top?

This is a fine design but haven´t an answer to the NLA of the intake tubes of the 85/86.
Any sugestions for this problem?

Andrew, using that logic, you could say that any 90 degree bend "defeats the purpose of smoother airflow". Bending the air is where you take the biggest hit.

Andrew,
Search is your friend as they say.

Cobra head elbows are used when clearance is extremely limited, such as when an air cleaner outlet is up against a firewall. There is no other way to make a really tight bend without losing air flow. How does the cobra head make such a tight bend without increasing turbulence? Because it flares out, creating more volume internally without increasing length.

It will most likely fail the visual inspection unless you make it look really stock and stealth. Even so this system looks like it is not difficult to put on / take off. I'd just put the stock intake system back on every two years.

The stock does a good job keeping the turbulance so it's a non issue.

I think straight silicone hose could be added on later. It's nice to have the option of reusing the factory tubes, as it should keep the price down.

With respect to the intake hoses on the 85 to 86 cars.
We are looking at a reducing connector that will emulate the factory tube and incorperate the Mercedes tube or maybe use a modified 78 to 84/87 to 92 tube.
