amsoil! no crank scraper, coolers, no accusump, no dry sump, no baffles, no problems! Just good old stock 928 stuff. And more race days than any 928 engine on the planet. Porsche !!

All kinds of fun sh*t happening down there...
Thanks for that explanation. I can sure see the reasoning behind it and a better idea.

Just run the magic oil and you will be taken care of by the 928 gods. Holbert is watching over us!

how many days have 928 racers lost to breather systems, loss of oil pressure, accusump failing etc etc. Have I or scot or my other 2 928 racers ever missed a race or practice day or even a session?

Porsche - 928 gods- Amsoil - Knock knock knock!!!!

Richard, HOLY F*CK!!!

To answer a couple questions, a couple of the pieces you have in your kits are the same as in mine, However, that said, I have alot fewer pieces as I have the drysump, I dont have all the baffles for the pan.

I do agree that it would be better to raise the scraper in the engine and catch more of the oil. But this would be tricky. Definetly not impossible, just tricky.

Adam, when you get up here on Sat, we will go over the design and I can recommend a few things to you for your setup.

I do realise that everything is relative is terms of easy. But I really dont see this as being complex. I tranny, or engine yes.
A couple pieces of plates with small bends, not so much.

Bill, as to the comment about crossing the border. I can tell you that is not the case.

I have ALOT of things shipped, and it normally only adds a day or two to cross. And when shipped USPS things arrive with little owing.
If he had contacted me to confirm the address before shipping though I would have had it sent to my box JUST south of the border and it would have cost me NOTHING to bring it across.

I have had them wave me through with upto $700 worth of car parts without making me pull in to pay taxes on them.

Hell this month alone I think I have probably brought roughly $2k or more across, and NO hassles, and didnt have to pay for them once.

Did the windage screen go between the brace and block or between the brace and the main stud nuts?

Between the brace and the main studs. The steel becomes the final thing before the nuts.

I don't have the Simard main studs, so Mike was kind enough to countersink the main stud nut contact area so the brace would work with stock main studs. The problem is of course that if the windage screen attaches between the nut and the brace, I don't have a flat surface there I have a countersink.

Thats a problem. Its about as big of a problem as I have - the simard studs don't clear the stock oil pan when you back them out enough to get full threads on the girdle AND the windage tray. Its not what he designed, so its not his issue at all - its mine.

I found some pics Adam. They were mixed in with some head pics. Still on the camera. I gotta clean this thing out.

Hope that helps some.

I dont think the engine knows how fast you are going, and certainly on the street tires you are not pulling any real Gs, so why the failure? I wonder if it is a problem with sustained high rpms. Dont know, but i have 4 platforms that have raced for 12 years and have never missed a beat. even the beat up early engines when retire for larger displacement , showed NO signs of wear. 7 full seasons on the holbert engine with no mods what so ever, and everthing stock internally, and no squirters.

maybe the damage was done here before the amsoil was used. (mobil 1 before he amsoil used here?)

That is so UGLY! what a shame! Who's engine was that anyway?

maybe its in my warm up routine. I cringe to see so many guys out there reving the engine cold, or maybe taking it to redline before the engine oil is at temp. so many factors, so little time. I just think with the 6-7 engines Ive been responsible for, in racing conditions, we have had no issues.

I've heard good things about Amsoil but I've also heard that on the 32v cars it can make your cams shed teeth from the sprockets...
