actually it was squirrels not mice. Nuts everywhere. No harm, no foul just one hell of a mess! You want "all the money on this one? Leave the original tires and buy another set to drive/transport. Add it to your price......

On the mileage thing, there is a 95 GTS in FL with ~200 miles on it.

and btw, I'm that Chuck guy and if you have a car like the one you bought OR the frog you do NOT drive them if you have half a brain anyway AND want all the money for it........ SELL IT TO A COLLECTOR. I'm with several really large collectors in Charlotte this weekend at Porsche Club Parade and if you'd like I'll mention it to a couple of them I'd be happy to.

Word to the wise, it might not leak now but wait a few weeks/months/years and it will. I promise you it will. Yesterday, I replaced my master cylinder with 1465 miles. I was fine for four years then..... seep, seep, drip..... The trans is going to leak, the AC system will leak (if it works at all), the radiator might leak, the steering rack will leak. you get the idea....

Oh and good luck.

Jim is right (and he would know), I have hundreds of ours and MANY $1000's of dollars in bringing mine back. (btw, I have the original tires on the original wheels. bought another set to drive on) A detail job is not going to do it, in fact it will probably do more harm then good. Please don't let them loose on this car. If I were interested I would want it b/f any detailer got a hold of it! You might give buyers that option, I wouldn't reduce the price for giving the new owner the pleasure of doing the work.
Great advice Chuck, thanks man! I'm basically following all of it. I'm going to throw the rims from my 993 on there for the drive from Leif's shop to my place in Seattle, about 18 miles. Sadly, that will be my total time behind the wheel of Royal Blue '82

No detailer will touch this car, nope. I have 2 brand new wash mitts, a new plastic bucket and my own 2 hands for that. According to owner #1, when I wash her up this weekend it will be the 2nd time ever the car has been washed.

Believe it or not the AC blew cold after sitting dormant for 20 years. It was a trifle low on freon though so Leif topped her off.

Yes please mention this car to whoever you like. There are 7 Rennlisters as of now on the call list but hey the more the merrier I always say

Don't detail it, my 10k car had been waxed by hand no buffer, and simply had the leather condition applied liberally during it prior ownership, it is my job, and pleasure to get it showroom, bit by bit, piece by piece...

I am actually cleaning the underbody and wheel wells of my Summer Yellow 944 this weekend.. .and trust me one of things guys like me buy the car for it to do it OURSELVES, plus to many detailers don't have a vested interest in the car, and a buffer in the wrong hands is a dangerous thing.

Shaynes AMEN to that bro'! I need to get under a few of my cars and do some more work. It has been FAR TO LONG for me! That said, none of my cars are like this '82, and even less like the mighty Kermit, Bob's 89 GT, or what the 200 mile GTS that Chuck mentioned might be like!

I need to be the guy that FINDS the car in the barn dang it! I am looking forward to that day...that or winning the lottery! LOL!

Shayne I like your garage man! Nice collection there! I see you are in FL is your garage A/Ced? Freaking FL is every bit as hot or hotter than Central Texas! When I build the six car everyone thought I was crazy for A/Cing it, but when you love cars as much as I do it is just like another part of my house! Here is a shot of it:

Jim I thought I was sick but clearly I only have a minor chest cold in the big scheme of things

Don't worry boys... one very light was with tepid soap and water in the shade. One new wash mitt for 1/2 of the car, one for the other. Whoever the new owner is can detail her up the way they want to their hearts delight~

It's amazing how these well preserved non-drivers keep popping up. I thought Froggy would be the only one but obviously there are collectors/drivers who value the 928 more than others would have us believe. Great find. Very envious. More pics [drool].

Anticipating this, I handed him the check I had already filled out for $2k more than the one from the 24th.

apparently enough to get the job done...
as the car is going to be resold, i doubt Kiesan will divulge the actual purchase price, nor do i think it's relevant or should he be expected to, it's worth whatever the new owner to be is willing to pay for it, which i'm sure will result in happiness on both ends of the transaction -

amazing find, BTW, congrats Kiesan -

Good thing you have A/C and to the part quoted above I am with you 100% but I suspect you have a better shot at affording it than I do by the looks of your collection anyway!

I can't wait to see Kie's shots of the car all cleaned up! What a beauty!

I suppose there has to be one of us not partial to Royal Blue

A few hints you say? Sure! How about 3?

Hint #1: The first check was for more than a typical loaf of bread costs.

Hint #2: The 2nd check (the check that bought the car) was for $2000 more than check #1.

Hint #3: Check #2 was sufficient to have purchased a truck suitable for delivering the loaf of bread to your local grocery store. Depending on how savvy you were when you negotiated your deal for a bread truck, the truck may have come delivered fully loaded with many loaves of bread all for the amount of check #2.

Is that sufficiently vague?

Thanks man, well spoken. Looks like the car in your avatar may be the same color. Any pics?

Hey you guys... the oem 17" wheels on my '96 C2 will bolt on to the '82 928, correct? Only will have them on there for 20 miles or so.
