Wow!!!! What an incredible time capsule.

That's probably cosmoline on the pan..........and everywhere else.

I wonder what the meaning is of the red or orange dot on the shock.

So were all 16v intake badges painted black?

Beautiful find

I was looking at all of the cosmoline too. It's everywhere! Looks like it is on the rim edges as well, guessing a bit of overspray. Oh well, no oxidation on any of those parts. Funny thing as while I have been working on my cars AC I have been scrubbing all of that off of things thinking it was just old oil/fluids that had gotten everywhere.

So now it's got me to wondering. I don't remember seeing that much on Kermit. Did Art remove it all or was Kermit not sprayed? I'll have to find some photos. Better yet a quote to answer my own question.

While I had all the parts out I cleaned what I could, painted the exhaust system and had the battery box and gas tank strap powder coated. I did touch up the paint on the underside and cleared it. Again, because of the low miles it really wasn't that dirty relatively speaking it just took a really long time.

Not saying it's a problem..but if you do plan on driving it...I would think about swapping out the aluminum ball joint carriers. The later models (84 and up) had steel ones due to the fact that the aluminum ones would get worn and the front wheel would kinda just fold under. Now with 3800 miles...I'm sure its not a big deal just yet.

Wonder how the concours guys feel about changing a safety related item?..do they deduct points for a safety upgrade?.. Chuck Z..did you change out Kermit..?

BTW..it came out very nice...how much do you want for the tail light covers and the front spoiler? hahahaha..

Michael, I think Chuck Z got all the cosoline off Kermit...If I recall he had some pics showing it was pretty covered too, but he pretty much took that car apart and cleaned it up better than it was the day it left the factory!

Kie, I was RIGHT ON THE COLOR!! Door jamb shows Arrowblau! YEA! Same color as my race car and I must say my FAVORITE PORSCHE COLOR EVER! Great job sir, the car looks AWESOME!

Best to you!

The cosmoline is factory original BUT BIG BUT the show guys REMOVE all of it !!!! Which is one reason why a brand new zero miles car can NEVER WIN !!! too "dirty" The alloy lower ball joint carriers are just fine for many, many thousands of miles , the steel ones are the better replacements.

Someday I will have cars like this in my permanent collection. For now, I have a few bikes on hand now to placate the need to have something factory new. My '02 Ducati euro-spec 998r has never been started or operated and I've owned her since taking her out of the factory crate myself in '02. It is positioned right over my desk at the office, although I have to roll the chair over there about 6 ft to look up under the skirt. I find that 3 to 4 of these trips per day to be about right in order to keep stress levels in the green zone of the gauge.

Tom I'm not driving her any more, or at least not any serious distance. And I was wrong about the miles. When I was tooling around the city yesterday stopping 3 car lengths behind every vehicle in front of me at red lights, the odo went from 3499 to 3500.

Oh just make offer for whatever parts you need off this old thing... I won't be using them

Do you subscribe to "Excellence"? If so just wait until the October or November 2008 issue hits the newstand.

Yes, my phone rang Saturday and it was one of the writers for the magazine. Evidently the editor likes the color/story and they are sending up a photo crew within the next couple weeks.

Whatever will I wear?

Here's a link to photo pages from the PCA Parade in Charlotte ongoing now. The concourse was this past Sunday. About half way down this page there are three pics each of four OB 928s, including Chuck Z's kermit. Not sure who the other 3 belong to, anyone know?? One from Tennessee; another from North Carolina; & one from New York. All very nice sharks. We wanted to go, but too close to SITM for us to make it. Bet the concourse is amazing.
