If it comes to that, IMO a cylinder wall will give out before the piston.

A side wager?

Mark we have been through this before, I guess it must be all that cool air that has burned holes in pistons.

That might happen, but I am going to stay with the piston if it goes lean.
Lets say a case of beer?

I hope that Brett has all the angles figured out and he reaches his goals safely.

Brett--

Find a way to put a safety strap between the rear shock towers, and through the brackets for the bottles. Those things are missiles if they come loose on impact, and we all know that anything loose in the car will aim directly for your head at the first opportunity. There's also a risk of the valve and the nose of the bottle breaking if the impact something more substantial than your head. The rapid NOS discharge will stimulate any otherwise minor fire you might have in the car following impact. I'm sure you've thought all this through and have a plan, but it wasn't done at the time the pictures were taken.

Yes - if he pulls this off, we each owe Brett a case of beer.

Please don't blow up... please don't blow up, please don't blow up....

You're probably going to be the first person in the world to get a buck large with a 16-valve motor.

Best he doesn't get his hands on the beer before he goes for his run :-)

Someone on the 928uk list also raised the good point that Brett hasn't mentioned uprating the fuel system to cope with the extra demand.........

Good points -- That may be why he put them on the passenger side, but an extra strap or tow would be cheap insurance. That's a lot of mass, to rely on wood screws(presumably) in 25 year old plywood is definitely an act of faith...

As long as we're making wagers on possible failure modes, I'll go with a longshot and say he bends rods before the pistons or cylinder walls fail.
