Hi Rick,
It may be possible, but I have never delved into an SMT-6. Louie Ott would probably be able to give a good answer to your question....

SMT-6?? First I've heard of it...
If it removes fuel, do you still get the full effect of the 30# injectors? Does it advance or retard timing??

I believe Louis has one available but he is busy and probably can't get back to until late tomorrow or Thurs.

Actually..the SMT is perfect for ignition ..as you can adjust the ign at all points on the load map...including wot... For fuel..you can only change the wot fuel map effectively. I haven't played with the ign timing adj just yet..but did have the fuel set perfect for 6lbs of boost and 30 lb injectors...problem was that at anything other than WOT...i was getting too much fuel (LH can't control the fuel). Louie has used the SMT to bring the fuel values down to a range (at non wot )..where the LH can take over and correct..but this is tuning intensive...
I went down to 24lb ford/bosch injectors recently and the car runs perfect (lh can control these injectors)..I haven't been back to get the a/f checked but think I can add fuel with the SMT at the top end...and since I won't be going much more than 6 or 7 psi..I think they will be good enough. Jegs online has the 24's for just a bit over $200 a set but you will need the Porsche orings on the bottom of them (Fords are too small).

Tom,
Sounds like something definately worth checking out, I'm currently at 10 psi boost with Motorsport 24# injectors. I guess my question is, will the SMT be beneficial with that kind of boost and 30# injectors?
When I went to the dyno, my timing looked like it needed some ajustment. The power was climing nicely, then it leveled off at the peak power range and wouldn't climb. The dyno tech mentioned it looked like a timing issue. So if the SMT is the "shark tuner" for 85-86's, I'm all in

Hi All,
What kind of wiring mods does the SMT-6 require. Does it splice between the LH2.2 box and the rest of the harness...
Mike, didn't you runs the SMT box in your 86.5?
Does it require crank speed? Cam position? Throttle position (as oppose to swtich)???

For right now I think the combo dejour would be the SMT coupled with the sharktuner...ie. smt handles the ignition side..the sharktuner does the fueling.......but when John gets the EZK part of the sharktuner working..well then.......I think that would make it nice and easy.. .....got that thing working yet John?????

It actually is something left to those handy with soldering irons and wire splicing...I wouldn't even think of doing it...

Yes he does and if you make a trip down to Louis' in a couple of weeks you will be able to see an FI928GT dyno tuned with it.

Hey Loren,
I did indeed have the full setup. In my situation, I removed the stock O2 sensor and installed a wideband unit which "faked" a narrowband signal so the LH wouldn't freak out. Along side that, I had the SMT6 with full control over ignition (to the extent that the distributor would allow) and full control of fuel (within the limits of the LH). I had to intercept and modify the MAF signal, left ignition coil, and right ignition coil. The rest of the connections were mostly for power and signal tapping. I prefer the way I did it to modifying the crank sensor signal - however the car seemed to have a couple small yet distinct misses. I didn't even realize they existed until I got the car on the dyno. Louie reported that modifying the crank sensor signal would avoid this, but the car would take longer to start on some occasions.

Hi Tom,
For the > 87 cars the Sharktuner will do both, very shortly. The EZK part is working, I have used it on a s/c car on the road myself.
I hope to give a first version for some testing to an existing ST owner in the next couple of weeks. He gave very valuable feedback on the LH ST and his suggestions were incorporated into the later versions.
After that the EZK version will be available for general release.

Well, I've tried sealant on the threads and a crush washer. I'm still getting oil splatter around the bolt. The bolt didn't come with any washer or o-ring, is it supposed to? Any ideas?

Darien,
The oil is leaking through the weep hole. It is designed that way and is supposed to leak. I just wipe off the snout whenever I open the hood. Do not try to seal it up.
