Hi John,

I think I posted some pics a few pages back...Ken's pics are back there as well.

Check out the AFR differences before and after the SkarkTuner I'll say it again, the SharkTuner is the "Holy Grail" for tuning the 928, with or without boost

This thread is so huge, don't hate me for not reading the whole thing if the answer is in there somewhere. Has anyone installed two air temp sensors, one before the intercooler and one after to test the efficiency / temp drop the intercooler provides?

John:

Here's the setup. There are additional photos buried somewhere in the thread.

A 975 CFM filter with a 4 inch opening. Draws cold air from the fender liner area. 1 90 degree 4 inch elbow and only about 18 inches total length from the filter base to the Maf. I used a rubber 4 inch to 3.75 inch reducer right in front of the MAF for transition. I now have a section of 4 inch hose that I plan to use instead of the aluminum tube and will just cut down 2 2.5 inch "connectors"
to slide everything together with and then clamp. The silicone tube will get rid of the imperfections that I have with the aluminum tube in that it will compress better under the brace and fold in and out.

I also riveted an L bracket to the inner fender well and then placed a clamp on the filter tube near the filter...that way if I need to pull the connector off in the engine compartment I don't lose the filter into the fenderwell....yep...live and learn.

Regards,

Ken

Thanks for pics ! I don't remember seeing them before, but I assumed the setup would be inside the wing (oops, fender).

Good that you are continuing to refine your setup.

I have known several people who have made significant power gains by increasing the size of the intake airfilter and intake tubing to the blower intake.

what do you need to know.

this was taken just idling in the garage. The bar graphs in the upper right are your temps and are taken from the locations as labled. They are measured via K-type thermocouples fed into an Inovate motorsports 4 channel T-couple amplifier...this goes into the rest of a data loggin chain as you can see. I hit record and watch it all later. Those temps are accurate with in +-1'F, if not less. Its call kind of gee whiiz stuff, but i like that sort of thing....and its actually help with a few things. The numbers are much higher under boost. Ill get some video some day. I wish there was a way in windows not only to capture an image in a screen shot but also moving video. I have some base line runs i did a few weeks ago and i will post them when i get back from this trip. I'll set up the chart so it only shows temp for you.

Hey Ken, how many ribs on that belt!!
And what is your upper pulley size?
I thought they didnt make them that small for a 10 rib application? Something about the bolt in the center is what Darien said?
Im only judging from the pics but your upper pulley appears to be the same as mine?
I'd love to have a 10 rib set up.

Hi Tony:

It's an 8 rib...... There is NO slip and I don't have to tighten the belt very tight at all.....Not that I had any problems with the 6 rib either, I was running the original 6 rib belt even after 14 track days.

I was able to talk with one of the techs from Kenne Bell and he shipped one to me to "try" as neither of us were sure it would work.

The diameter is 2.5inches - down from 2.75 IIRC. .....It settles the big 2.4 liter blower right around 8.5 pounds. For my application 1/4 inch diameter equals about 1.5 pounds of boost.

What size blowers are you and Darrien running.... I forget.

Man I can't wait to get my car out of storage and up to see Tim. Damn snow.

Ken

Excellent Tony, thanks! And you have FOUR temp readings I would be curious to see the temps at load too. The reason I ask is I'm wondering just how efficient and useful that intercooler is all cooped up between the intake and engine.

BTW, you can capture a screenshot of windows by just pressing Print Screen, then pasting it into a graphics program such as Paint or Photoshop. It's much easier than taking a picture of the screen with a camera. Also, you can capture video of the desktop with a program like this:

I found this neat comparison between the Kenny Bell and Lysholm blowers. The Kenny bell looks exactly like the DR unit so i thought I should post this since i found it. Pretty cool comparo and you can see some very nice points for this specific compressor.

Check it out.

I'm running a 2.4 liter at 8.5 PSI.
