Great News guys!(You too Doug)

This thread should be back up and running again because guess what! The 944/924S search has been resumed!
Because of massive budget constraints and other things not worth talking about, I've been constrained to a $2000 budget and I can only search locally for now. The car will primarily be a summer driver and a backup-fun car seeing as I've already got a brand new daily driver. It's alright if the car isn't perfect exterior or interior-wise, it'll be my personal project car as well!

But this is exciting! Wish me luck guys!

I looked on the Detroit CL and that's the only one that even looks half decent in your price range. I recommend you spend as much time calling people and setting up test drives as you can - post here after you have driven and evaluated a couple.

The hunt shall begin indeed! And I've got all the info and books from over 120 pages of my threads haha!

That one above is the only one that perfectly fits my needs in my area, I won't be making the final pick and purchase until at least August; but now that I'm also a new member of PCA, I've got more contacts and resources to get what I need to make this happen! I'll be waiting for more options to pop up as well.

These are the other two that are over budget, but I wouldn't put them off yet.

Needs a new fuel line, but that means I could replace it and not be worries about it at all.

Also I know now exactly what I'm looking for in this car. I'll list what I want below.

Model: 944 or 924S
Years: 1983-86(to avoid the change in wheel offset because I'll want Fuchs.) and 1987-88 for the 924S
Trans: Manual of course!
Color: Any color but black
Mileage: Below 150k
Exterior: 7/10
Interior: 7/10

This'll be a fun search! The only way I'm allowed to get a car out of state is if the car can be delivered, the mom won't have it any other way.

But there's plenty of cars out there and I've got a month to find one.

You need to look at the one Sausagehacker posted, probably the best for your money.

If you don't get a 944 by the end of August, there will be consequences... We've been jerked around too much young padawan!

So where exactly do we need to look on Craigslist that is local to you?

Essentially my local area is southeastern Michigan, but I can go as far west as Kalamazoo and as north as Saginaw/Bay-City area.

Welcome back!

Your mom is right -- get a local one!

Learn how to negotiate! You will get a better car for your money! You could offer $1500 for that black one you posted!

Admiralkhole asks a great question! Let us help search!

Sausage is right, drive a few at least! So you can get the best car!

Get your 924S or 944! Get ready to live life!

I'll be especially lucky if it's one owned by a PCA member! I looked at the description of the black one and the guy wants his monies worth out of it; how much he put into the car. I can't get a car until my mom returns from her trip in 5 weeks so there may be more that pop up, but until then any help with the search is well appreciated!

Make note of this also Karl, it's a very very useful skill to have.

Know the car, know what to look for, and make an offer based on an appropriate conclusion. Also, money talks. Cash in hand will seal a deal and turn your purchase into a bargain 9 times out of 10.

Will do! My mom was a realtor back in the day so she's got the skill to lower the bills haha!

I hate to say this, but I've narrowed it down to the current best cars for the money I think.

There will be many more though, so I'll keep my eyes open.

There will cars that come up by the time you're ready to start the buying/narrowing down process. The red one looks to be the best deal, but it looks like the bumper is pushed in slightly on the drivers side. Still, it looks better than the rest. You've got to develop an eye for things like that. Keep searching cl, search as far as you're willing to travel. Explore your options and don't get dead set on a single car just yet, you'll need to drive them.

If it were me in your shoes, I'd find the best 85.5-89 possible. I've had both early and late cars and much prefer the late interior + the updates done to the car. I know you want to put fuchs on, but the late offset cars open you up to much more wheel options from cars other than the 944. OEM+ really looks great on our cars as well as modernizes the looks/abilities. Newer wider wheels will maximize tire selection and performance.

Right! I also realized I could put out an ad on here and pelican parts too if my mom doesn't want to search via Craigslist.

Should I put up an ad now?
