Someone figure out a couple of locations to meet for this thing, and factor in the guys coming from a distance, and post a mapquest or something for us newbies to the 'south'.... Yeah, I have heard we are meetnig up in Raleigh first..but where in Raleigh? Who's takin care of the logistics on this thing?

 

I'm in Knoxville- not TOO incredibly far away- I make the run to Raliegh every now and then, and Charlotte's on the way- I'll have to check Mapquest or something to find out the distance though, as I haven't been through in awhile and never paid much attention to distance. I'll try to get in touch w/some other K-town people to see if they might like to go- not sure how far away Nashville would be, or Atlanta, but maybe some of them might want to as well(?)- I'm just not sure of how far into NC Charlotte is... Anyway, the only thing that would definately keep me away is the fact that I'm temporarily unemployed- we'll see what happens- anyone know of any really good jobs? Sales maybe? Anything? I'm willing to re-locate too...

Try this on for size- those coming from points northeast of Raleigh or who live close by, yall meet in Raleigh. If you live closer to Charlotte, ie southeast of Raleigh, come straight in to Charlotte. If you're coming in from points west, well, there aren't many options. From points south, I77 or I85 are the best bet.

Leftlaneguy- where is Todd, NC?

If any of you guys live close to each other, coordinate and decide how to do it.

Eastland Mall is easy to find. Get off on the Harris Rd. exit of I85, take Harris to Sharon Amity, turn right onto Sharon Amity. The mall is about 5-6 miles on the left at the intersection of Sharon Amity and Central Blvd. I propose that we meet at the intersection of Harris and Sharon Amity at the Winn Dixie grocery store. It would be way cool for a line of Porsches to show up en masse at the event. If any of you local guys have a grill, we could have a cookout at the event, a Neckarsulm tailgate party.

I haven't gotten a reply yet on the start time for the event, I'll post it when I find out unless someone else already has that info. If you do, please post it.

 

I saw a black n/a with phonedials coming through Spring Hope, NC yesterday on my way home from Raleigh, was it any of you guys?

 

ok, so I can drive straight through... it would be easier. I would, however, would like to meet up with some people to convoy. Anyone interested? CurlyDE, Kool, Jim968, Robby? I live close to Greensboro, which is right on I-85 on the way to Charlotte. Someone let me know. I could just join up with the Raleigh carpool when ya'll drive by my exit...that would work....

I could meet you in Salisbury. I have to take 52S to I85. Or- the Raleigh guys could meet us in Salisbury and we drive together to Charlotte.

 

I'll figure out the location in Raliegh. I think the best bet would be to hook up at a restraunt parking lot by one of exit's. I'll be heading into Raliegh next friday so I'll pick a spot that's pretty easy to access off I-40 that's probably close to the Airport (Miami Bvld)

Kool and I will be coming from South of Charlotte, so we would not be able to meet up with before hand (Greensboro is North of Charlotte I think). If anyone else is coming from the South let me know and maybe we can work something out.

 

Elon-

I just checked the driving directions from Mapquest- kind of screwy- it did say that Carlotte's ~240miles from me, whereas I know Raliegh to be ~360.... Where are you in relation to Knoxville, Asheville, Charlotte, Raliegh, etc? I BELIEVE the best way for me to go is to run straight down I40- I go right through towards Asheville and on to Charlotte- whereas Raliegh is on down ~120 miles or so past Charlotte(?)...

Robby, if you're coming from TN, then you'll be approaching from the other side of Charlotte. I'll be taking I-40 West all the way there

 

There has to be a mall (large) parking lot off of 40 that we can meet at. I don't know the exits well, but if I remember correctly exit 1(??) there is a huge shopping area, outdoor mall, etc...? I think it's on the inner beltline but I am probably wrong. I just can't remember what the name of the shopping center is. I've only been there once.

Anyone in Raleigh want to pick a place like that (or that one) to meet at? A mall right off the highway would be perfect.

You guys from SC could pick a spot convenient to you. Hammbone or Ahmet, could one of you find a good meeting spot in the RDU area and post it on this thread? I'll be getting the actual start time so we can coordinate to meet at the Winn Dixie at Harris and Sharon Amity. No monkey business in that parking lot, there's a satellite police station there.

If we can decide on a tailgating party, that would be cool. I was thinking just snacking and going to a restaurant en masse that evening. Ideas? Anyone have a digital video? I'm bringing VHS and digital still.
