Took the instrument cluster out to find out why the odometer is broken - a couple of teeth broken on one of the plastic gears.

It stopped with the trip meter on 944, which I thought was pretty clever...

hi Obsessed, that is a common problem. The plastic becomes weak and brittle and they usually break when the tripmeter is reset while the car is moving.

i bought a new one for mine from Rennbay which i'm still yet to install but i have heard from others that the kph odo gears sold online don't always match whats in the cars so you have to count the teeth.

Are you still in Hamilton?

Drove it!
It still has a small power steering leak but other wise it's great.
I blew an intercooler pipe which scared the carp out of me, other than that though it ran great.

Interesting, I'll have to check this out. I thought my problem was on the wheel end or maybe the cable. Is it an easy fix?

P.S. Is yours an early or a late car? The gears on Rennbay that J1NX3D mentioned seem to only be fore '85.5 onwards.

tried to diagnose my "wipers always on" issue (probably the switch) and broke the relay in the process. (it never ends)

Re-installed the rad, all hoses and charged the battery.

Fired her up...first try VROOM! Woohoo its ALIVE! I drove around the block!

Now to bleed the water system and test for leaks.

I'm really pleased with myself.

If anyone hasn't tried the waterpump/belts job...look at Van's thread and you will go for it! It was my first time. (pump/belts virgin)

Drove it to go get some Chipotle, and it brought a smile to my face.

Mine's a late car. There is some good information about repairing common odometer problems on Clark's Garage: http://www.clarks-garage.com/shop-manual/elect-09.htm.

Friday PM trip from Syracuse to Downtown Rochester...stayed at the Hyatt, parked in their spratan filled garage very near the main door on the second floor.

Walked over to Eastman to watch the oldest in his semester ending classical guitar recital (went awesome).

Anyhow 200 mile round trip the P car did fine but when I got home and was unloading I found what someone else did to my Porsche...

Paranoid me... I disable the ignition for a delay you'd have to trouble shoot if you hot wire it... I pull the radio face plate and take every thing out of it...

But I left the 4 little Porsche Logo'd chrome tire valve stem covers... they apparently needed to go to a new owner...

Gebus will 4 of those on the street make even 1/4 of a hit on a pipe or ??? thank gosh they are too lazy to pry the wheel centers off huh?
