951 front end glass fiber copy yes, 951S rear trailing arms..also 944S2 gearbox...so its a lot of 944 in that car. May contain traces of 928 and 911 as well

Picked up the rebuilt A/C compressor to replace the "It just needs a charge" missing A/C compressor on the 1984 944 NA I bought last year.

I am in Germany and had to order from the US to get one for a decent price. But had to go to customs to pay the import duty...

Well... A 20 minute wait in the Zollamt (Customs office) waiting room after taking a number...

To find out that their machine failed to notify them of customers as designed to do. The other person who'd been there before us had been waiting an additional 10 minutes before we showed up.

My wife is German and was not amused.

Me, I have long since learned to expect that sort of treatment when visiting government offices here.

Got the wheels back from the painter.
Guy did a **** poor job in detail, meaning he covered no dimple...had the wheels sand blasted so every bit of corrosion was scooped out.
But from 2 feet away they look good and they will match the car's looks
Most staggered 16" phone dials I could get and fit under the 931 body.
I guess 8" rears could also fit but then the tires would not look the same front and rear...i'm looking for the same aspect and same tire and tire size front to rear.

Going to wait a couple more days for them to dry in the sun before mounting tires on them...not to ruin the lips...paint looks really good on them its a pitty the guy didn't take care about all those little imperfections.

BE happy if they are "2 footers".. You will be the only guy using a magnifying glass on them. 99.9% of the people who admire your car will not notice the imperfections unless he's a Concours judge.

Figured out why the turbo died on me and now is a no-start... Moron PO had put in the BMW replacement speed/reference sensors, but didn't do anything to ensure they were routed clear of the turbo exhaust. Over time, one finally slipped over and hit the pipe, and got fried. Melted/scorched insulation, and a dead sensor.

Kicking myself for not catching this one sooner, but the turbo engine bay is so freaking crowded after coming from the NA that I just completely missed it.

Anyhow, now I get to replace yet another part that would have been fine if my PO wasn't intent on screwing up everything.

Ah well. Also, confirmed that I've got a vacuum leak, which I suspected anyhow, but good to know for sure. Seems like the check valve for the HVAC is the culprit, but need to narrow it down the rest of the way.

Also, listed the 1984 NA up for sale locally and on Facebook. Putting it in the RL classifieds here shortly as well. It's hard to give up a 944 you've had for a couple years and that's properly sorted, but no room for both a turbo and an NA!
