Managed to remove the hvac/interior/creature comforts, as well as all the unneeded bits under the hood over the last few weeks. So today we installed the cage I bought from Don Bryant and I modified the dash.

Are you going to put in an inner bumper structure behind the GTS bumper? Have you found bumperettes?

Mine could have been mounted better but I was away from the country and i thought simple details would have been self-explanatory for the panelbeater to do. I went from a RoW bumper so I was stunned that they did no inner bumper structure underneath. They even removed my front bumper mounts, the RHS bracket having the tow eye mounting point. Maybe they didnt want to cut my GTS bumper. The way they remounted my 944 indicator and parklights into it was pretty gash too.

I think the bumperettes from the aluminium 944 bumpers are the perfect look for a GTS bumper. I would do that if I could do it all over again, an d also keep my tow eye mounting bracket.

A few pics of progress!! I've ordered the steel for the dash bar and will also be adding more passenger side protection as well as drivers side doorbars!

Default Today's work

It appears I have far less work than many others. Today I reassembled the passenger door, I replaced the rubber seals around the door handles, replaced the shifter boot. Searched for brown speaker grilles and see that mine are actually pretty good. I will fix the cracked bosses. I plugged up the console holes with some dummy switches and I cleaned the carpets.

It is overheating so I ordered a Thermostat and seals as well as a tune up kit, wires, distributor, rotor

Default Carpet for the trunk area

Found at Pelican Parts. Unfortunately you have to buy all of the carpets for the entire car.

Preliminary fitment:

It turns out my car has been in a fender bender (literally) at some point, though. The front passenger side fender support is bent in (looks like the bumper made contact when it got pushed in), which is pulling that fender in closer to the body. I'll have to fix that before going any further with the bumper.

Got the 951 back on the road! Started running rough and only firing on 3 cylinders, and the troubleshooting process about drove me crazy... Car was getting current to the plug, and noid light suggested the injector was getting a signal as well, but it turned out that the plug itself was fouled! Couple minutes with some super-fine sandpaper and it runs great!

Still have other stuff to sort out, but such is the way of newly-acquired 951s.

Spencer, wouldn't 1.5x speed limit be closer to actual traffic speed?

Glad to hear you got it running, I know its been awhile...............

it's always been running fine, just had the cam tower gasket blow out a few months ago (easy fix) and then more recently i rearranged my oil coolers...
used to have a pair of coolers mounted in front of the rad/AC.

need to make room for an intercooler, so i made a bracket and hung the cooler off to one side of the rad frame (similar in location to how a 944S2 oil cooler is mounted). that also required getting new hoses made which was way more trouble than it should've been (if you ever go to COMOSO in corona, give Sam a slap on the head for being utterly useless)...i had to piece together fittings and hoses from 4(!) different hydraulic shops to get a complete setup.

glad to be back in the saddle again...

944 to body shop. Small dent RFB that bugged me. Soon off to service for few small oil leaks. Also new coolant tank installed. Good wax planned also.
