took the 924S for a spin in snow and ice ! No dramas, enjoyed the ride but had to be extra cautious at times

Having scanned your prospective body kit for a few minutes and then seen these pictures, I think the unmolested car is so much cleaner & classic and the prospective kit like the wood kit is making a mess of a nice stock car!

But as long as any future owner can change it all back,?

Thrashed it to the parts store

Removed the wiper mechanism stripped cleaned and greased it as the wipers were virtually stationary. Stripped the wiper motor, cleaned and regreased the drive gears - waiting for some lube for the electrical wiping contacts as these need to conduct.

Checked the battery - 12.5v when not running, 13.5v when running and reved but no load - not enough? Checked alternator earth continuity - seems ok, belt is new...alternator newish by PO. Thought about cleaning grounds - didn't, waiting for lube in the post. Another job for the list...

Fitted some new door pockets, not the correct carpet type but hey better than the old ones that the PO had removed carpet and added red vinyl...badly....

Bought this: 87 w/ possibly a broken timing belt. Have spare engine for it. Can't wait.

Dear C531XHO: Yeah, alternator output seems a bit light.Normal readings for most alternators is between 13.5-15.5 at idle. 12.5 is your battery voltage. So your output at idle is low.(IMHO) Revved at 2K it should be a solid 14+..to compensate for all the wipers etc. and still charging your battery (accumulator). Use dialectric grease for your electrical connections, anywhere and everywhere. It will save you broken connectors and prevent corrosion...and lots of frustration in the future.Hope this helps some!

Thanks for the advice Tiger03447. I am planning to go over all the grounds as everything is slow; starter, windows, light motor etc. I am also tending towards replacing some of the earth cables if I can find a good UK source.

All the best, David
