Nope the gates upper hose will not fit, it is curved wrong. I bought a Uro one and it fits perfect. Also the 1986 Lower Gates that rock auto lists doesnt fit an 86, its too short. You need to buy the 1987 hose listed at rock auto.
But I finished the water pump and timing belt job and drove the car today. Its much better.

@strtsol1109: I have one just like his, if it's same as mine it's a cheap walmart/autopart store "wedge" cupholder that wedges between the seat and center console.

I replaced a leaky heater valve and decided to get my reference sensors before they got me. After a quarter century of baking in the back of the engine the plugs were pretty well done.

"That looks like a GREAT idea for your Sirius Sportster!!! Do you have some more detailed pics about what you did there?"
I removed the metal tray (aka ashtray) and used a drummel.....I then ran all of the wiring under the center console.....a better photo is below.

Butters nailed it.....it is from Walmart....retails for about $5.00, I might cover it in leather this winter
Also the GPS mount is from eBay.....$30.00 shipped....really high quality (metal construction)to the point I don't know how they make any money on selling them
Here is the link.....they make it for all types of GPS Units http://www.ebay.com/itm/Arkon-TTEP12...item5d2fa2c56c

Ya see? When she finished, she was too tired for sex. Oh well. Wrong web site for that stuff anyhow.
On another note, wire brushed out my entire battery compartment which had a rust hole in it, 2 layers of fiberglass (protected the drain hole and mounting screw) and then sprayed the whole area with liguid rubber (like the stuff they use on truck beds). My battery has a small drain pipe on it so I put a long piece of clear plastic tubing on it and stuck it donw the drain hole in the floor of the batter box. Now, we're solid!!
