Gremlins then.

I'm suspecting a bad wire/solder at the headlight end of the wiring. Try giving the cables a bit of a wiggle.

Installed driver's door panel.

Wondering: should I post a thread on this? I repaired the panel, cut new plastic sheet, and all that for like $10ish...

wrote an essay offering a curt opinion about collectable P-cars from the '80s and '90s.

https://rennlist.com/forums/968-foru...ml#post9110590

one reason i remain skeptical, is in no small part due, that with the aging baby-boomers, added to the lagging economy and ever-expanding number of super-fun cars, exotics and semi-exotics to choose and drive, the number of core car collectors may be shrinking; with the potential for leaving the '80s behind as the lost decade for collectable cars.

I've been busy lately. I found the cold start maps, cold enrichment maps, and zero'd out the ECT based timing adjustment map that pulls 9 degrees of timing from the part throttle timing map when the engine is cold. Needless to say, the car starts easily on E85 now, and it has good power and throttle response right away! No need to wait for it to warm up before pulling out of the driveway.

A couple weeks ago I finished building a 3" stainless catback exhaust with a nice quiet 3" straight through muffler.

I also installed a 38mm wastegate with a 12 lb spring. I tested the old stock wastegate and found that it opens at 5psi. Then I threw it on the dyno and did some tuning. It reaches full boost 500rpm earlier, 3500 vs 4k rpm, and torque jumped by 37 ft-lbs at 3500rpm. The stock turbo was able to hold 16 psi to redline for a gain of 20 RWHP at 6k rpm. Peak numbers are now 281 tq @3600rpm and 249RWHP @5k rpm measured on a Mustang dyno. That's approx 280hp/ 317 tq at the crank.

Next I need to replace the stock cat pipe with a full 3" section.

WHAT ?? I am going to go check this out.

You know that IF I get a new Cayman, and probably after I get a new shop built, that on my visit list was to drive that P car over your way.

If I got another older 911 or something, I was still going to do that. It just might be a bit longer.

And I might NEED to stop in your garage.

That sound like good work Dave. Keep it up.

It is none zero zilcho of my business either, but I would stay in that less than 300 hp range to keep relaiblity and durability as good as you can.

People that truly know have told me that. I believe them too. And it is backed up on this forum. But it is fun while it lasts to get up there big.

Took the 944 out into the desert for some airsofting fun with my buddies. Always nice to take your German sports car offroading into the AZ desert filled with kids and packed with guns and such.

ALSO I passed 94,000 miles yesterday :'( it's nice to get lots o' use outta her but I hate watching that odo go up. AND my "HETZEN" license plate came in. Way before I was expecting it

I did get some nice pictures while I was there...

Thanks for the tip, I appreciate the info. I'm watching the car closely to see how it likes the new mods. Yes it's definitely fun! The car is responding well to mods, I'm sure a test pipe will give it a nice gain, after that it'll need an intercooler upgrade.
