Bad news = been tied up for nearly two weeks.

Good news = I traded $120 and my phone dial wheels.

For some original 7 x 15 and 8 x 15 Fuch wheels.

They need some TLC but after I paint the centers red I think they will go great with my RS style build.

Fixed the center console arm rest/cassette top. Used general type jewwlry box hinges to replace the plastic hinge that ripped after two months. Hope this works and if not will try another fix.

Default S2 Teardown

Continued tearing down the S2 motor I found for my 944S. Did a leak down and compression test. Looks like burned valve in cyl#2 so head is gonna have to come off.

Yesterday I pulled the crossmember from my Turbo S. Found the pass side motor mount broken in two. Then pulled oil pan and changed the rod bearings. Some wear, but nothing strange for 139k miles.

Still need to clean the pan and put it back on.

I cut it into pieces, loaded it in the back of my truck and sold it for scrap value.

BTW, this was a badly wrecked parts car

Took 2hrs to install the polyurethane strut mounts yesterday. I just loosened the top strut lock nuts and jacked up the front and the coilovers came right out. Bolted up the newly assembled poly-loaded strut mounts with new thrust bearings packed with Molybdenum grease. Took it on a long spin this morning. The Handling and steering is way tighter now. Those rubber donuts were FUBARed. I really doubt I'll ever have to change the strut mounts again. Maybe install new thrust washers about every 100K miles or so

And yes, I am VERY happy with my homebrewed colover kit that cost less than $300/pr to build with new hats, 300# springs, KYB strut cartridges and late offset spindle mod (If I were tracking I would spend the cash on the Koni inserts).

replaced ****ty, rusty factory rotors with nice new ones on the front, plus hawk brake pads, and speed bleeders to make the job easier next time. removed rear control arms. Currently in the process of replacing the old control arms with new ones because the Hick P.O. resized the holes for the bolt that holds my dampers on. it's been a learning experience to say the least.

Took the car out for a drive yesturday before the rain. Then realized that the problem I had when I first bought the car (heat always on) linkage, was not really fixed. The linkage is still in place like it should, but now I can't get any heat...Must be some other issue like a vacuum leak etc.. It is almost time to pack it up anyways, so I may simply pull off the linkage and go back to full heat and worry about it next season.

BTW It was very nice to get it out again..not many nice days left now.

Well.. I don't just know yet. The S has about 100K miles on it. Runs pretty well. I may hang onto it or sell it. This 944 is my project car for the next long while. I wanted an S2 in it and found one for reasonable $$. Rt now the chassis is with my body guy who is replacing the the rear clip. (well about 18" of the rear)

In the middle of installing poly-bronze spring plate bushings. Installed the inner races, now to install the outer races and drill/tap for the grease fittings.
