Hopefully by Thursday night I will post a pic all clean and modified to manual set-up.

when youre done there should only be one line left on the rack, an air line on the front that connects to both sides of the rack.

I had a couple of guys over, re rebuilt the rack (my second, their first time seeing it done) I had my lines rebuilt by a local shop ($90 to replace all the rubber) and it is all back together now, and my PS works like a charm, and no more leaks... unless you REALLY want the manual rack, there really isn't a reason to do it!

OH, yesterday I installed a Nissan Quest alternator, and drove it around to test the setup! works like a charm, and only cost me $212!

On Saturday, AFTER I blew the driveway AGAIN I backed her out, and ran her for a while. That's all I got.

She started right up tho!

I do really want a manual rack. I preferred the feedback I had with my old '83 944 manual rack. I know I know this set up will not feel EXACTLY the same but it will be closer than the PS feel.

To each his own.

Plus the car will be one of my 2 'daily drivers'. My work comute is 64 miles EACH WAY. One less fluid to worry about leaking, less weight, and since I had a parts car anyway I can try this set up a little before I remove the remaining PS parts from the chasis. I will still have the other PS rack to swap back to if I slap this on and decide I want PS back. And trying this set up will have cost me next to nothing other than my time.

For those who have the room I highly recommend getting a parts car btw. It is great to be able to try mods like this out on 'spare' parts.

I like the Nissan Quest option, haven't tried it myself but as soon as my alt goes out thats the way I will go.

Untill recently my daily commute was 70 miles each way.... I feel for ya, but I was happy to do it daily in either of my 944s....

While I dont have a parts car per se, I do have 2 of them, and yes it is nice to have 2 of the same pieces sitting side by side to work from...

944 is running again, and hope to have the 951 back some time soon as well..

Wow....that's a big mirror, you should be able to see the next ice age coming with that thing.

I am the last person to second guess customization ( I have done ALOT of stuff to my 944 some will question), but can I ask why you need so much rear view?

As we speak I am trying to remove the tie rod end from the steering rack, my dumb *** should have removed it when it still in the parts car.

The only thing I have not tried to remove it is putting heat to it. Dang it...really wanted to have it finished tonight.
