I would have thought the Mag article would have gone some way to providing the sort of info a PPI would provide...

Some context:

Magazine publishers have art departments that are very good with airbushes, and computers. You don't think Jessica Alba looks THAT good in person, do you?

Time to close the post for now. I hope everyone is happy. I will do my best to improve further my English. Not mixing up I and You any more.

Let Shawn and his wife have a beautiful time with their new baby. This is important and counts at the end. Money and cars we can replace somehow.

I feel bad for all parties involved. Honestly at 27k it was a STEAL. How many of us have that just in motors/brakes/wheels alone?

I will say the article and for sale ad presented a car in nearly perfect condition. Other than the paint chips which are to be expected the condition seems to be a little mis represented. However all of that could have been avoided by a inspection. I don't think I'd ever buy a used anything site unseen. However this car was pretty well documented recently and I can understand the OP's reasons for trusting.

I will say for 27k I consider that car a steal and fixing the issues you have listed could be done pretty cheaply. The paint chips are expected. If I could buy a 968 turbo that had already been built for 30k I'd do it in a heart beat. I don't remember what the KMR car went for several years ago when solo picked it up but, that car was well sorted and I seem to remember it nearly selling a few years earlier for north of 50k.

I guess what I'm getting at is even with the issues, for me at 30k it seems reasonable. If I was paying 40-50k I'd expect the car to be perfect. At 30k I'm going to expect some flaws. Regardless I'd never sign any check over without a full inspection. It go's beyond trust at this point. Its just about buying the car you want. This is a very special car and the buyer would be looking for something very very specific. I'd want to make sure thats what I was buying.

To all the parties involved I'm so sorry this happened. What a unfortunate turn of events. I hope it gets resolved to everyones satisfaction.

P.S. To all the very childish peanut gallery comments and attacks. You guys are helping to turn rennlist into something it was never ment to be. We are supposed to support one another.

I've seen the car in question on multiple occasions and do not recall the "defects" listed above.

Keith,

be more specific. Date & location would be helpful. If you are not responding to this and not comming up with facts, it would not surprise me.

Basically... he bought a car sight unseen and now has buyers remorse due to it not being everything his hopes and dreams were made of..... or atleast that's how that email reads to me.

And complaining about open dump? Saying it needs an entirely new exhaust? Seriously? HAHAHAHAHA, that's just silly. Even if he didn't like open dump (I personally do) it'd take a welder, an hour, and about $100 in piping to nicely tie it back into the exhaust.

It's a MODIFIED 15 year old car, a certain bit of work is to be expected.... especially when you bought the car without ever inspecting it....
Mike,

I have a great idea. You pick up the car in NJ for 27k. You do the easy mods and sell it for 30k. This would be 3k just like this. Deal?
