Hell my 944 doesn't even run righ at this point but I'd be willing to give it up for a few months for a good SC kit. I'm going to get the motor next week and hopefully it'll be functionaly in a month after that. Carl if you still haven't found a good donor by the time I get my beast running you can have my car for a prototype.

I am sory for the guys who "flaked" out on you. Have you considered the funds you would get if you just got a NA 84-84 944 and just did it to that car. I mean a 84 can be purchased for around 2500-3000 bucks so the investment would be nill. Besides you could sell it and recoup you "losses" if any. I know I would buy a SC 944 for 5000.00.
Just don't give up too soon on us. The 944 guys can be a bit flighty.

well, how about just using the car to do the fab on, and returning it to normal, and just sell the kit? so that owner isnt necessarily obligated to buy a kit? i think you would have more people willing to lend their car out if they didnt need to spend the money on the kit....just if they wanted to buy one later on, still offer them the discount.

Kenny - I'm not short of projects and development work. Maybe if I was, and I had a pocket full of cash, I would do that. But without a buyer for the first one, no thanks.

Last time I went out on a limb to develop somthing on the promise that "we'll all buy it" has left me with 240 a-piller gauge pods on the shelf for the Porsche 928...

OK - I'll bite.

What is the compression ration of the 924S, and what type of fuel injection system does it have, and where is this car so I can see it?

9.5:1 CR and motronic. The 924S is an early 944NA motor in a 924 body. The only problem I could forsee with using a 924S would be when it came down to intercooling. If you were to go with a header panel intercooler a la 951 the holes to get under the front panel aren't as big as they would be on a late (85.5+) 944. You can definately still get the intercooler piping through there but you might have to cut a little bit and squeeze the pipes into a more oval shape to make it clean.

Unfortunately, that front panel is spot welded on too. Still, getting the kit to work without intercooler is a large step forward and it isn't impossible to remove the spot welded panel and replace with one of the screw on type.... If the A/C (condenser) is removed, then perhaps an intercooler could reside down low in front of the rad?

The nose panel on the 924S is spot welded on? I don't beleive so...I could always be wrong, but I was looking thru the factory service manual, and it talked about how you remove the nose panel to open the hood in the event the cable breaks...

Off topic, but what is the interior like (late or old dash? etc?) of the last 924S made and what year was the las 924S made and its weight?
