More detail photos from the assembly process. It's slow work, mainly down to the car being stripped 14 years ago in Ireland and us attempting to put it together again from piles of parts that may (or may not) be from the original car, like a perfect 911 RHD wiper assembly which won't fit the LHD bulkhead....

I called in on my way back to Ireland last Friday night and was well received by Colin. He showed myself and Neil around. The work on my car is superb and is really a tribute to the enthusiasm, skill and knowledge by the guys at 9 M. Re the RHD wiper motor, now I'm wondering where I put the RHD car !
BTW, somewhere in the sack of parts I left are a 3 pin CDI box and various tachos.
Keep up the great work lads. We're on the home straight now.

Tacos, I was feeling hungry when I typed that.
I will not be selling the car for at least 10 years and am looking forward to its 50th Birthday on 12th February 2022. Should I kick the bucket ( an Irish term for snuff it ) before that I'm not telling my wife where the car is or where the log book is.
And Colin, yes I do have the original Irish Brown Log Book and the Chassis ID Plate, in a safe place, and I remember where !

Hungry??? Thought you were from Ireland. You dont type with a Hungarian accent.
Sorry, my last name is Bray and my mother's maiden name is Kennedy so I gotta joke with ya.

Taco's -i'd eat anything and have done. Sure you re half or more Irish then. Stop by for a Guinnes if you re ever here.
Tomorrow I will look for the missing bits, and maybe we dont need a rear anti roll bar, it gives better oversteer. Now I remember that was the demon tweek we used when I rallied it.
Sometime , I ll do a post detailing all or more of the cars 100+ competition events with me from 1990-2000.

Many thanks for a great thread.I did the same job in 1988 on my 73 2.4S NYT 37L.The new bonnet was £190 then from Porsche. My car was unusual in that it had black anodised window frames an door handles and I havent seen another like that.I paid £2600 for that car, aahh, the days.A couple of questions re your rebuild, what was the reason for not fitting the quarters before the roof skin? And where would I get those small panel clamps you used when stitch welding the panels together? Thanks for a wonderful narration of a great job.

Sepia was and still is one of my favorite 911 colors. As the values rise all up and down the range in years of the air cooled cars it makes me think perhaps I should take my SC back to stock when the time comes.
Tremendous effort on your part. Thanks for sharing it with us.

The clamps can be sourced from several vendors, just do a google search on "butt weld panel clamps". Machine Mart have something similar, as do Northern Tool in the US. We bought ours at a trade show some time ago.

Few more items added this week including new discs and calipers. Brake reservoir fitted as well as the black plastic fuel filler overflow tank up under scuttle panel. The factory retaining strap for the overflow tank is NLA so we have improvised for now with cable ties.
The oil system is now receiving our attention in the paint shop starting with the oil tank. It's got a little surface rust pitting but is actually quite solid, hence a clean, prime and repaint is all that is required.
Lots of boxes of parts to go through yet including two sets of instruments to get working. Since this is a performance rebuild rather than concours the steering rack has already been fitted with a new turbo tie rod kit to replace the original seized and bent steering arms.
