As you know, I am a sucker for vintage mechanical stuff. I have to say that my rebuilt MFI throttle bodies should be hung on my wall so I can enjoy them daily!
Completely rebuilt 2.4 magnesium throttle bodies. A piece of Porsche history. Done by Matt Blast at Eurometrix. This is his 'concours' level rebuild, which has the original magnesium finish instead of black coating most rebuilds are finished in, the studs removed and re-plated and original finish on aluminum links. Besides the fancy cosmetics, what really matters is that they have been completely re-bushed & re-machined, then flow tested. The base bore was also increased from 29mm to 36mm (S-RS-Carrera) for my build.
Also received an update from Mark Jung that my MFI pump is next in line at his shop. Hope to have it back soon!
I expect parts over the coming weeks, but today my lightweight IMI high torque starter arrived. This starter saves ~7.5lbs over the massive stock starter.
mine is well worth it - be sure the flange is oriented properly...
Luckily for me I can install this before the motor/trans goes back up into the car. I did read that there are various versions of this starter design from other makers (some knock offs too) that have less adjustability, but I bought the 'original' IMI which supposedly has more adjustments on the flange. I already sold my original starter, but here is a photo I grabbed from Pelican that compares the stock to this design. Saves weight and hopefully no more hot start issues that the stock starters were known for.

There are a bunch of versions and companies making the high torque starter - I believe I purchased one of the better one's but you can also search - it is kind of overwhelming. Even though this is a small update, I was itching to post something as it has been a while! So, I am going with ARP rod bolts/nuts and ARP flywheel bolts. I received the rod bolts/nuts today but won't get the flywheel bolts until April. Taking longer to get parts than I expected. Here is where I stand:
Aaron Burnham has my intake stacks. He is doing the correct taper bore to open them up to match my bored throttle bodies. He is the last guy I could find that will correctly taper bore the plastic stacks. Even Matt Blast at Eurometrix wouldn't do it and I found other non tapered versions but not interested.
I ordered my DC-30 cams from John Dougherty a few weeks ago. Should get soon.
I am itching to see more pics - and find out who is going to tune it all together on a dyno...
also what info did Mark need to do up the right space cam?
I am also itching to post more pics This project is certainly taking much more time (and money) than expected. I will probably not have the motor done until the fall. I am planning on putting it together (building a motor has been on my bucket list) with plenty of guidance. I do expect to have it tuned by an MFI expert (luckily I live in SoCal and have options here) and dyno'd.
Mark is just a busy guy - if you watch his website (https://www.mfiwerks.com/) he is always on a several month lead time. For my pump, he is doing a full rebuild (disassemble, clean, replacing worn components with new parts or NOS as needed, including new seals, gaskets and bearings, and replacing all worn cosmetic hardware with new or CAD plated hardware). He is also modifying/re-mapping it to match my build specs (engine size, cam specifications, head ports and compression ratio, etc.) This involves changes to the space cam, but I am not sure exactly what those details are. He is also cleaning and flow testing all of my injectors. Hope to have it back soon and will definitely post photos!
