Hey folks, so is this still doable on a 2023 718? I read there were some PCM version compatability issues...

Thanks for the response. I was hoping I could use this method again, it worked perfectly on my previous 718. Is there a preferred Android auto adapter currently?

As yours should already have Car Play activated (?) I would recommend what I use, the Carlinkit 4.0, This adapter gives you wireless CP/AA with a physical USB connection to a wired CP enabled head unit.

Thanks I actually already have one of those which I used in my first 718. I'm not sure if they changed the interface or something but when I connect my phone via USB I don't see the android auto option appear on the PCM screen like it did previously. This made me think the car is not enabled with AA. Maybe I'm missing something??

I have the Carlinkit 4.0 connected to my 718, you have the same version?

Cool, you should be there then, the Carlinkit 4.0 connects and looks like CP to the head unit, when you connect your phone to Carlinkit 4 and it is USB connected to the PCM you will see a selection for Car Play, choose that and it should give you AA on the PCM. I don't see an AA icon, only a CP icon, choose that.

I have the Carlink 5.0, and on my previous car there was an Icon that I selected on the PCM home screen that launched android auto. So far I haven't seen that on my current car. I will have to keep playing with it I suppose. So far I haven't even been able to get AA even with the phone connected via the arm rest USB or the glove box USB. Thanks for the suggestions

There are definite differences between the Carlinkit 4.0 and 5.0:
