Now you can try to code your car with this. FYI you can’t have the coding for Windows UP/DOWN from the remote. They are mutually exclusive. It’s one or the other 🥲
Years (and a few cars) ago I bought a SmartTop module so I have this functionality in the Spyder now, not only the ability latch the top from the outside but remote windows as well.

So on your car, you can release/lock the latch from your remote. That's pretty cool.
Is there a way to make the interior console buttons that control the top single press as opposed to hold?
also, is there anyway to enable vim through piwis?
It’s easier to enable VIM from GEM AIO. I really haven’t looked at the One Touch feature. It might be a bit different from BMW coding where you have the option to program One Touch button

Yes, the SmartTop interprets specific key presses on the remote and sends the appropriate signals via the CANBUS to the module(s) in question.
When opening or closing the top on the Spyder (or a Boxster) you can set the windows to be up or down at the end of either operation. Remote operation of the windows themselves alone are a different key sequence.
I have that on my truck, it can be very handy! I suspect that this would be a no-go on my 6MT Spyder.
Remote Start was available on my previous BMW MT car via remote key and Phone app. I think it checked if your shifter was in gear and E-brake was not released.

With PIWIS you can code windows up or windows down at the end of the top opening sequence (I chose the default windows up). The windows will then close after top up unless you release the key early which will leave the windows partial down 1"- 6" depending on when you released the key. You can continue to close the window as much as desired by pressing lock again hence you can leave the windows open a bit on hot days with the car locked.

Very similar results then, to be expected because the SmartTop is actually sending factory sequences to the modules. One small difference with the SmartTop is that during top operation is the the windows up/down is selectable from the remote fob as desired.
for those of us who have coded the dash lights always on (white dials) it would also be nice to activate the rear tail lights to always on too, in the event the headlight switch is "off" at dusk or other instances of poor visibility from behind. (fog, rain etc). I've coded both my other cars (VW & Audi) to work this way. Some Scandinavian countries require it.
