Looks awesome! Hope the drive back was a blast, which I expect it was! Just out of curiosity, did you do anything to protect the paint on the drive back (such as track wrap)? Any plans for PPF now that it's home? I'm doing PEC ATL and have a 7-8 hour drive home. Trying to figure out what I should do as far as protection on the drive home, if anything. Or should I just drive carefully and avoid being too close to other cars ahead. Anyways, congrats again! The Spyder looks beautiful! Enjoy it!

I'm collecting my Spyder on 8/31 at the PEC. Decided to bring 3 rolls of Scotch 2090 Blue Painter's Tape and cover all high impact areas. I'm driving back to Dayton, OH and it is immediately getting full PPF so I'd prefer not to take any chances! =P I'm also planning to avoid i75 as much as possible...

For that purpose.....buy Xpel Tracwrap. I haven't used, many do. Temporary PPF, comes in a roll. If goal is to just cover without looking pretty, just stick it on. Presume it provides better protection than painters tape.

Yeah tracwrap was suggested to me. Seems pretty low cost and easier to apply/more protective than painters tape.

Great way to get those break-in miles over with.

Congrats!

Don't blue tape it. Buy the temp track wrap. Your detailers will end up spending hours using steam, rapid remover and polishing if you cover up with blue tape.

Just ordered some xpel trac wrap. Do you think 40’ x 6” is enough, or should I get a 2nd roll?

edit: just ordered a 2nd roll…

I think I'm going to follow your lead and do the same, especially since my PPF installer recommends it. For those that have used it, is the 6" or 3" easier to apply? I've obviously never used the stuff before and since I'll just to doing to frontal areas, I'm thinking the 3" might be easier.
BTW, the Siem Confucius is moored in Halifax. Should be in Baltimore later this week.

And I was pleasantly surprised that my insurance will only be $830 more per year.

Guys,
I need to be talked off the ledge here. As some of you who have followed my saga know, first my wife's Macan S was destroyed on the Felicity Ace, then my GT4 was destroyed on the SFL Conductor. My replacement GT4 still shows up in TYD as a MY22, but I've been at "Scheduled for Production" for over six weeks with absolutely zero movement (anticipated delivery date of 9/23 to Davisville, as confirmed by my SA). Build is pretty simple: 2-ways, no PCCBs, but I DID spec PDLS+, and the lack of progress is making me nervous this is an issue. Between factory breaks and MY switchovers, I thought for sure I'd have some news by now. Is there anyone else out there still waiting for production to START on what should be a MY22 car?

All MY22 should have started production by now as from my days working for Ford, the shutdown is usually when all the tooling and model year changes happen.

Seems like you have had a string of bad luck. I would contact Porsche corporate and see if I could get an escalation.

Go right to the top and write President of Porsche US Dr. Kjell Gruner and the person who clears his mail will kick it down to someone who will inform you weekly or so on progress. The address to use is kjell.gruner@porsche.us Be clear, be brief, be polite and you"ll get the response you are looking for.
