Mont Tremblant - 718 - 1:55 - 2021-05-7 - SportCup 2 - Soul OAP/JCR silenced-valved exhaust

That was on stock alignment and shortshifting arround 6k rpm to stay below max dB of 92 - got black flagged in first sesion - 94.1 dB. I was slowed down twice in trafic so I think I can be close to 1:51-1:52 next time arround. Going back on june 4th after proper alignment and TPC toe links/DSC controller. Getting my gopro setup working so I might have a video next time!

I think I set this time on GS1R.
I also have a set of SM-10.

Are the 718 GT4s really putting down low 2's at VIR? That's 3RS territory on a track with two long straights.

Sobiloff,

What size Nankangs did you run? Opinions? I have friends who swear by them for different cars.

I'm running 265/35R19 and 305/30R19 on APEX SM-10s (9" / 11"). Last time I ran the track in my OEM Dunlops, but since then I got the TPC rear toe links installed and got a more track-oriented alignment, so it's hard to make a direct comparison. I liked the Nankangs a lot, though. I could get 7-8 laps out of them before they'd start losing grip, and they were really consistent even when they were too hot. The one thing that surprised me was that the tail would get a bit happy during high-speed braking—something I thought the TPC links would prevent, and something I didn't experience with the Dunlops. I'm guessing that the central ribs on the Dunlops help with braking stability, and the AR-1s lack those. However, just being a little more careful about keeping the steering wheel straight while initiating braking took care of it.

I'll probably give the Supercar 3Rs a try next, as I can get those for less. (Selling tires for a living has some perks!)

Thanks for the synopsis, think I’ll have to give them a try.

Very jealous that you have an inside line to buying tires on the cheap. My wife just can’t understand how I spend so much money on them.

Awesome!

Hallett is what I call my home track. Sadly, probably not going to make it there this year.

I need to be turning in much, much earlier.

Out of curiosity, what kind of pressures were you running in the Dunlops?

Front: 31 hot
Rear: 33 hot

Not sure that is best for the tire. It is a great tire though and I think just as good Cup 2.

Thanks!

I like them better than the Cup 2. They like heat and higher temps, which was good for the times and places I was running.

I was running 32/33 with -2° of camber all around at PittRace and found the car to be nicely balanced. Tread wear was pretty even except for the outside edge. The left side, in particular takes a terrific beating at this track. I'm going to try -2.5 to see if I can trade off a little inside wear to reduce outside wear. Bars were neutral

Road America: 2:40.30
Manual.
Alignment is F: 1.65 Camber 0.3mm Toe-In per; R: 1.5 Camber 1.0mm Toe-in per.
TPC Toe-Links.

I've seen some other "stock" GTs put in 2:38s, and some modified GT4s tap 2:31.
This was the first event I've seen PDK GT4s. They are quick. Great acceleration out of a corner.

Enjoy:
