Kline 718 GT4/Spyder exhaust
#556
It is for this reason, that I am going to stay stock as far as exhaust goes. The GT4 cabin is loud enough from a DB level already and I think the sounds it makes are good for the most part.
I think my Kline budget might be going to MCS 2-way remote coilovers. I am going to do the toe links and alignment and see what I think of the mostly stock set-up before fully committing to MCS, but they look enticing. There is a race shop owner near me who has that set-up on his 718 GT4 and said he would give me a ride.

I decided to pick up the Kline OAP and back box from Supreme Power. I ordered on Monday - delivered on Friday. I'm still amazed that we can drop ship things from Europe to the US so quickly. Good job Supreme Power.

Yep, I agree (at least on the GT4). If you only plan on doing top down driving in the Spyder, then there isn't much (if any) drone.

You may want to save for both! I should have my Kline headers installed (to go with the OAP/Rear) by the time you pick up your car in LA... still want to hear? You just wont get the same enjoyment out of the car with the stock exhaust... its very very tame. Plus you will want more power after awhile and the car needs a tune and the exhaust and the suspension work.... After you drive mine, you will see...
I appreciate the offer, but I think I am going to pass. I don't want to get an unrealistic expectation based on the mods you have done, then get into my stock car. I am not willing to void my warranty, so any kind of tune and headers are definitely out for me. This is going to be my daily driver, so I need to keep it civil.
Also, this is my first Porsche and mid-engine car, so I want to take that journey unadulterated. I do appreciate the offer though.

Thanks! Cant wait... The first few mods were easy... DCS, Toe Links, Alignment, Kline Inconel OAP/Rear, AG Battery, CG Valve controller, Soundakator delete, BMC filters, ECU Tune, etc... were all kinda low hanging fruit - no brainers for this car. Now each additional mod will have more trade offs for my street use case... Headers maybe too loud/noisy, stiffer springs maybe too bumpy, other suspension goodies too stiff, etc.... there is a point of diminishing returns along the lines of the Pareto Principal in that I think ive gotten 80% of the improvements already and chasing the next 20% might be a mixed bag. But if I dont try, I wont know. I will post my honest impressions and some decibel data in a few weeks!

Three Wheelin'
I know this is a little off topic, but relative to dnimi123's above post.
Another relatively simple upgrade is to just increase the front springs by 100 lbs and leave the rears alone. We are at like 258 front and 456 rear now, same as the 981 I presume. The fronts are softer to make for a better street car. By stiffening the fronts a bit you can preserve that ride, while helping front hold its end up better at the track. Less dive under braking, and more traction off the rear in the corners. You can of course go up to the 450/550 upgrade but a 350/450 might be more palatable for some people. My mechanic has played around with many of his customers GT car's springs over the years and found that a simple 100 lbs add to the front springs has worked better than a lot of other combinations. Just an FYI for those on the fence with regard to a spring change. And it costs less than half to install as the rears are much more work to change. Probably what I am going to do, but have not gotten that far yet. It may end up a 400/500 setup, not sure yet. At the limit, the car can certainly use some more spring rate. For reference, a 2700 pound Spec-Boxter runs a 450/500 or 500/450 combo. You can put the stiffer spring in the front or rear.

I'll stop here. This isn't a track car for me and the car with DCS and toe links is very, very fun. If you are a brakes/buckets car I'd be curious what yours weighs.
