No one was dealing back then (summer). https://www.caranddriver.com/reviews...18-cayman-gt4/
I think you should have driven the GT4 or Spyder before settling for a 911, unless of course you prefer the larger touring Porsche...

How beautifully simple was the 986 Boxster with 5 lugs and a spare? Back on the road and on your way in 30mins all on your own.
very good point!, actually I forgot to add that to my list, and its not just when you are in the boonies ... the complexity of the protocols, and the need for the 600nm torque wrench etc basically means that you are wise to only use either a dealer or a reliable independent mechanic
that you trust to be able to do this properly - even then I personally have had a dealer forget to re-engage the safety locks which is "ok" unless something bad happens you could lose a wheel!

Interesting how a feature developed to enable sub 5 second wheel changes in a racing environment requires procedures I see described here. It would make you believe that all these decade s of CL race cars are lucky they haven't spit their wheels off every race.
I'm guessing if I showed up at a track day or a DE with racing impact gun, some aluminum based grease (aka anti-seize) and a large digital torque wrech for final check a lot of folks would have a heart attack.

yeah race CLs and the Porsche CL have little more in common than the name and some basic mechanical similarities ... it all ends there ...

After pages of CL off topic, anyone else ordered their Spyder with a discount?

For the OP ~ I believe the car in it's base form is a 7or 9% markup from invoice and 15-20% for options. (can't remember the exact numbers) I used to use edmunds online a few years ago and think that's what it was.

While you can still see invoice pricing on a specific build, you can't see each item and the difference in price anymore on that site. Dealers got pissed a few years back because people could research pricing and edmunds succumbed to the complaints. I just built my car on edmunds and invoice is 12% less than my MSRP. As another mentioned, there is a chance some extra incentives for dealers could exist which could create a deeper discount.

I've found it hard to negotiate off invoice on GT cars. Any other model, not so challenging.

Thank you. If invoice is 12 percent less than MSRP and in addition there could be dealer incentives, seems an offer of 10 percent off MSRP is not unreasonable?

Good luck with that...be prepared for “disapproved, please resubmit for final disapproval!”...lol.

Sincerely best wishes, where are you shopping?

I guarantee they will not bite or even come close to that.

You are talking GM level off MSRP pricing. You can get 10% off MSRP on Corvette's and Camaro's after the initial hype is gone, but that will NEVER happen on a Porsche, let alone a GT Porsche.

Unless it is a weird color combo with 40k in options that has sit over the winter months.
