Hold back and incentives can be car specific or total number of units sold in a month/quarter
though as I said earlier Porsche had no problem moving GT cars in the past. Actually people were complaining about short supply and paying ADM
I don't think at this time they will give incentive on GT cars as such , because there can adjust the supply side of things if demand is slower than expected which seems to be the case

I was thinking there must be huge markups on the GT Spyders given their pretty substantial markup over standard 718.

Interesting....wonder why the 718 GT cars are not selling well? Too expensive for "just a Boxster"? Too close to 911 money?
First, they are selling well. The few sitting on dealer lots are a very small percentage of total sales, almost every one of which has been at sticker or above. Second, Covid 19.

Surprised to see 24 new Spyders for sale on Autotrader now, ranging from strippers to $30k+ in options. Have a feeling most of them would be willing to deal.

I don't know. As I said, this one dealer has had 3 of them sitting on their lot for a while now. A white one with CC brakes and red interior with carbon seats has been there for months.

One dealer. I’m guessing it’s a Premier dealer, right? One with a bunch of VIPs that either spec and don’t take or that the dealer uses to inventory cars. PNH?

If you search all the sites and accumulate the real cars out there, it’s a tiny fraction of the total sold so far. The GT4 and Spyder has sold really well so far, as evidenced by how difficult it has been to get an allocation. But Covid will definitely have an impact.

There are 13 verified Spyders on AT, and another 10 that are likely system scrapes. Tiny fraction of total US sales, and they are likely dealer spec, so you can’t assume they’re willing to deal.

There's one way to find out. Top-down season is over for 3/4 of the market.

This probably doesn't matter too much for the Spyder, but I am willing to bet that the GT4 sales takes a hit when the C8 Z06 is released.

+1

My FL dealer blew through their Spyder allocations for Q4 pretty quick but they were able to trade an allocation on something else, not sure what, with a dealer up north in an hour to get my car ordered. So yes, Spyders and most of the sports car models aren’t what northern dealers want on their lot come January. They want SUVs and Sedans with AWD. Timing is everything.
I did get a few bucks off the top line but it’s hard to tell what the real numbers are since I traded in a BGTS. Doesn’t matter I got the numbers I wanted so we are all happy.

What build month?

Sounds like supply/ demand is starting to tilt in favour of customers.

I am not sure if your friend is asking a serious question. Why would he need to get advised on getting a closed vs open top car? We are not talking about what options to choose here.

That’s the largest reported discount on an order so far but should be viewed in combination with the trade-in valuation, if any. If no trade-in, that’s a significant data point going into winter. Gt4 or spyder, easy, does he need a coupe or a roadster?

Another couple key data points are missing such as country and region. Just because you can negotiate a discount in one city doesn’t mean you can get anything off in another. I suppose if you are willing to travel you might be able to score a deal but even that is subject to verification as I don’t believe discounting has become the norm for either the GT4 or the Spyder.

.
Or he’s trading in a car, in which case the ‘discount’ is usually not real.
