Great question, I change it all of the time depending on the situation... by myself and in the mood (especially top-down) the valves are open, hearing the full sound is so great you keep looking for other turns to take so the drive and the fun doesn't end! When I am cruising either in town or on the highway or especially with my wife as co-pilot the valves are set to OEM/PSE operation, it really does tame down the intensity and the drone a lot, happy they are controllable this way. The other time the valves are usually closed is when the top is up, the enclosed cabin accentuates the Drone Zone (1800-2800 RPM), I have yet to hear this type of system in a GT4 but worry that in that chassis it might be a no-go for those who are the least bit sensitive.

So specifically the stock valve controller, when cruising along it works just fine, no problems with it's livability, but when you are driving spiritedly and you want the sound unaltered by the valves changing as you climb through the revs, using the valve controller to keep them open is the best option.

Do fully appreciate the gesture though.
Lots of us in Ontario with various exhaust configurations. I currently have an Akra OAP with valve controller, there are full Akra setups, Cargraphic, Soul race exhausts, etc to name a few in the GTA. PM me for more info.

They are ready to ship!

Here's a sound clip of our non-resonated Race Exhaust System:

We're currently at an 8 week lead time.

We have a great relationship with Numeric Racing! Their shifters are top notch. The owner likes it loud - very loud - and so we outfitted his GT4 with our resonated Race Exhaust System and Competition Headers. This combination is not normally recommended for street use due to the volume and drone from the resulting straight pipe but Dan loves the ripping, raw sound it produces.

We love the Soul Exhaust on our GT4! Everyone breaks their neck on the streets and meets. The crackle sound it produces is what gets people drooling everywhere. Had a 991.2 GT3 come by yesterday and was jealous even though he just installed a Dundon system. Once you see the quality that goes into them, you'll understand why we partner with them.

Is there a way to permanently remove the bladder or modify the intake so that it reduces the resonance? Alot of the drone ive been hearing seems to originate behind the passenger seat, which is where this system lives. It doesnt seem like exhaust drone. PS Ive tried multiple different air filters with multiple different exhaust setups, and whenever there is amplified resonance (including stock with valves disconnected) bmc filters make it way worse (like double at least) and it has a very different resonance to exhaust boom
This is a very interesting thought. I just had a good friend of mine installing a roll bar in his car plug that sound symposer where it comes through the firewall behind the seats. He ran our race exhaust for awhile and his words were "Call me crazy, but I think the drone is less with the hole plugged". I haven't ripped apart the intake system on one of these cars yet and am a bit hesitant to do so, but we could certainly find some low hanging fruit on resonance/drone improvement by intake/sound symposer modifications. Give me a ring any time at 4848836197 to chat about it in more depth.

Hey I don't blame you, this thread is so long I don't like going back through it all either haha.

Yes, best results will absolutely be with valves open on our system and the PSE factory programming is a real buzzkill

Apologies if I overlooked the description of this very setup in one of your videos, but have you done (and posted) your usual street testing clip with the configuration of your catted street headers + OAP + stock exhaust?

Also, still waiting for someone to temporarily rig up a 981 PSE off the back of one of these just to see what we are or aren't missing. Fingers crossed. Hint hint. I think if it doesn't sound close to as satisfying as the 981 then a lot of us holdouts who have been waiting for some silver bullet to come along will start to move on with life and finally purchase something that's available now.
Hey Jim,

We've driven it briefly, but weather did not cooperate to get video footage before moving on with the R&D process while we had the car. This video is one of the last missing links and is a priority once they start coming through production. And unfortunately I have to tell you that no, we are not planning on cutting up and modding a 981 PSE muffler to run on the 718 without any of the underbody panels, just to see what it sounds like after we've completed all our exhaust development doing everything we can to get that higher/smoother pitch while maintaining the factory aero. Just doesn't make any sense to us, despite how much I know you want to try it haha.

Regards,
John Gaydos

John, thanks for the response. So just to clarify, you are planning on providing video of the 200 cell catted headers + OPF delete pipes + stock box? If so that’s great and very much looking forward to that.

understood about the 981 experiment, can’t say as though I don’t still want this to somehow happen, but respect your approach / business realities around this.

Interesting comments about the sound symposer causing drone. I am still stock exhaust but with the valves open all the time. A few weeks ago while driving around with my mechanic friend, he said much of the drone below 4,000 rpm was actually intake noise and not from the exhaust. And yes, it seems to originate from behind the passengers seat right where the sound symposer opening is located. Eventually when I get back there to install some sound dampening material, it will get plugged or completely removed from within the engine compartment. Nice to hear someone thinking along the same lines as this and that plugging the hole might have reduces the drone a bit.

Could someone snap a picture of this sound symposer opening? That would be great! Thanks!
