Any idea if JUST changing the OAP for more sound would be considered "legal" in SCCA street class (Super Street)?

I know that in Street class you can change the muffler, but can't change the manifolds or remove the cats.

Have a Spyder on order and after driving an ASP-class 987.2 with Fabspeed "race" headers + PSE... I know I'm going to miss that sound.

the GPF filters are new to the cars, like in my GT4, they just started it in 2020 and aren’t even monitored yet, so highly doubt anyone has any regs on this component.

Thus in the spirit of the rules, they don't say you explicitly can, so you can't. In fact: "Modifications of any type, including additions to or removal of, the catalytic converters, thermal reactors, or any other pollution control devices in the exhaust system are not allowed and the system must be operable."

Yes but are the OAPs considered a "pollution control device"?

exactly, it’s a non-monitored component, in essence, that part doesn’t really exist. Once USA starts monitoring them, then that’s a different issue.

Just got my resonated race exhaust installed yesterday. Fit and finish was impeccable and it sounds great, but it sure is loud! I may have slightly under-estimated my tolerance for the volume side of it lol

Out of curiosity and to gauge where my sweet spot might be I used my Apple Watch Noise app to get some db levels. Idle was around 66db, 30-40mph 4th gear light to no load was around 71-77db and acceleration under load was around 84db, which it seems to hit pretty easily between 2-3k. This was with the windows down on a 60F sunny day. Obviously different conditions would change that.

@Soul Performance Would be interested if you have db levels for your other combinations?

I have this exhaust also and would highly recommend avoiding the range you’re talking about. If I’m going 30-40 I’m likely in 2nd gear to be around 3-3500 rpm to avoid this. Not sure if you’ve played with that at all, but thought I’d mention it.

So what exactly are you guys trying to avoid between 2-3000 RPM?

AndyE:

It has been hard to keep up with all the exhaust threads.....

Could you remind us if you have other exhaust changes or just the "resonated race exhaust"?????

Cheers!

I’m having the exact opposite problem! Have had the race exhaust installed for about a 1K miles now and find myself wanting a bit more... street headers in my future??? Trying to stay strong for now. Just goes to show how subjective all of this is. In a perfect world we could go out and hear the different options to get a good gauge.

Agree, just stay out of the range if you don’t like it. I still don’t find the drone intrusive at neighborhood speeds and at highway or back road speeds I stay above 3K almost all the time.

Drone in the race exhaust is found at about 2200 to 2800 RPM.

Sad that we all have to keep putting up with so much drone. Would be nice if more of the vendors could come up with solutions to this problem and have good in car videos and testimonials to substantiate such.

Soul OAP, with *** off, I have no drone when off, when on, the drone is annoying as hell, especially long drives, that’s when I turn it off.
