Are there any videos with soul race exhaust with resonators?

Drone is not a big deal to me... even on a daily driver
Had the same experience, and have the same setup! John has been fantastic to work with. Have a set of the street headers coming some time and am excited to hear the results when mated to the race exhaust.

I've had my Sport package (Over axle and valved exhaust) on for a couple weeks now. Coming from a 981 GTS with Soul's competition headers, the sound is good, but nowhere near as amazing as my old setup was.

One thing that really bothers me, is that if you accelerate with the valves closed at ~2000-2500RPM's, there's a lot of deep resonating droning that happens. It's really annoying sounding. With the valves open, it's basically fine. However, a similar thing happens with the valves open at around 4K RPM. I'm wondering if the Sport headers might alleviate this issue.

After my conversation with Cargraphic and Dundon Motorpsorts, it's more clear to me that the stock Mufflers and OPF does a pretty good job at keeping the drone to a minimum (it’s still there). When you replace the mufflers only, drone will be accentuated a bit more from the existing baseline. However, when you replace the OPF and mufflers, drone will be more noticeable from baseline. It appears that the OPF is a great drone minimizer. In order to minimize this, you would need to get a flow optimized OPF (Cargraphic) or some OAP mufflers. Kline's approach to this is quite good based on my conversation with K-Nut who has the Kline system with the OAP mufflers; however, this set up can only be mated to their mufflers and no one else, even stock.

I’m surprised that Soul hasn’t made heat shielding standard by now for the OAP, I think all others out there have, for a reason. So either get them coated or buy header wraps ASAP if you haven’t already.

But I absolutely love the sound on mine, doubt I will change anything beyond that, makes fantastic sound shifting.

Because once you remove the GPF the temps on that area drop significantly...no need for it to increase cost.
Someone here even posted the temps data.
Now if you want to extract the most performance out of it, yes...I agree that containing heat on the exhaust is a must and some kind of coating would probably be a better solution.

Are you using a valve controller? IMO the stock system has a slight drone at 4K RPM with the valves open.

@Soul Performance

What's your opinion on this? I assume you've chosen the design you have for a reason?

Of course, it's been covered in this thread a multitude of times haha, but in short...once the particulate filters are removed and that huge heat soak cooking the over axle pipes is gone the heat shielding is not necessary. We're not going to mandate people spend more money where they don't have to, regardless of varying opinions. When I can light a few hundred dollars on fire I'll let you know, but that's certainly not today and I'd imagine that's the same for most people haha. That said, there is no such thing as too much of a heat solution and we realize people can be more comfortable spending more to have it. We are more than happy to send our over axle pipes out to Jet Hot ceramic coating to have every millimeter of those pipes coated in either their 1300 degree or 2500 degree ceramic coating. For both our OAPs, their 1300 degree coating in Classic Polish costs $200, to do that same 1300degree coating in a different color brings it to $435, if you want their Ultra Extreme 2500 degree coating in any of their color options it costs $550.

Best regards,
John Gaydos

Ok John - here's one for ya...

If, say, I wanted to get back to that GT3-ish sound that my 987.2 w/Race headers and PSE... like your Cayman R combo.... possible w/the Spyder/GT4? Amazingly quiet, totally stock sounding, w/valves closed. Screamer with the valves open.

Yes... this please. What is the "prescription" required to achieve this behavior?

Yes, I'm using the Valve Controller. I agree, stock there was a slight drone, but it was very slight (to me). Now it is exacerbated quite a bit, and the drone when closed at 2500 is deafening. It's a weird setup compared to when I just ran competition headers on the 981, that one was relatively tame at lower RPM's but much much louder at WOT and high RPM's. Instead, now it's just loud and drone-y at lower RPM's and then fairly quiet at high RPM's.

John, thanks for sharing the coating costs! Do you know how much of a reduction in temperature the $200 Jet Hot 1300-degree coating provides over a non-coated OAP? Also, same question for the $550 2500-degree coating? I know it's probably overkill once you've removed the particulate filters, but I'd feel better taking the more conservative approach of getting the parts treated with the Jet Hot option.
