Yes, could be costly. For what ever it’s worth (which isn’t much) I have no plans modifying mine.

If memory is serving me correctly, I think they mentioned that the engine ingested part of the exhaust, possibly part of the cats which have been known to break down and fall apart.

Still, had it been a OEM Porsche system, Porsche would have likely stood behind the warranty.

Correct me if I’m wrong (which is likely)
I thought in the USA there is a specific law stating that your warranty can only be voided if they specific aftermarket part was the cause of the issue? It was to prevent companies avoiding responsibility. Maybe I remembered wrong though.

this law allows for things like modifying your exhaust but if the Bluetooth fails, the manufacturer can’t deny your entire warranty and not replace the Bluetooth. What happened to trackcar is a clear example. Stock car with different alignment and Porsche tried to not warranty the PDK because he “ran slicks” which he never did. It got sorted but it’s a headache.

it’s called the Magnuson-Moss act. It is up to the manufacturer to prove the part caused the defect. Their lawyers are usually more expensive.

I am planning a much more reserved approach this time around, I always say that the best warranty has your back but you hope that you never need it, sort of like car insurance.

Again, on exhaust note, check out this video and skip to 8:15 (trust me, skip to there, this guy is really hard to listen to), but listen from 8:15 to 9:00 and tell me that car doesn't sound really good. And this is the European spec of course.

Another word of caution are systems like Dundons. Not knocking quality or anything, I hear nothing but good. I almost bought their stuff. They have a street header setup that is not supposed to throw a CEL, however haven't been in use for long enough so you don't know if it will eventually. To be safe, leave stock headers and cats alone, obviously no engine tuning etc.
I also haven't kept up on what the latest is for North American cars, are we getting the same particulate filter containment unit without the guts?
