As mentioned multiple times since late last year the ROW spec and EU spec cars sound the same. Simple as that.

We have had physical parts for over a year, compared and ran and there is no audible difference and contrary to popular folklore the inert OPF actually flows a touch less than the monitored EU spec OPF for a number of reasons.

The rumour gained momentum due to overly optimistic owners who were yet to receive their cars desperately hoping that their cars wouldn’t sound as pathetic as the EU spec cars. Made worse by some ROW owners who received their cars and continued to talk of ‘non OPF’ cars sounding better than EU cars based on nothing more than listening to YouTube videos.

Looks like it’ll take a little while longer for this to die out, especially given sales assistants are now regurgitating the same stuff

Planning to film a 981 GT4 vs 718 GT4 video soon with various exhaust options on each car. I’ll also film the 718 GT4 with ROW spec OPF pipes too to compare against the EU spec OPF pipes and hopefully help put the rumours to bed

Great service to the community! Hopefully that translates to some goodwill for your business.

I fully believe ROW and Euro cars are going to sound the same or close enough that it’s not worth talking about.

What I am most curious to hear is this configuration:
- stock exhaust
- flaps fixed in the open position
- OPF removed and replaced with bypass pipe

Sure thing, the filming will coincide with the completion of our 981 offerings and the 718 OPF delete pipes being complete. Both of which in the next few weeks

Ill do as many combinations as possible but if you have any specific requests just let me know

Forget comparison to the can o’ bolts fake 981 sound, simply do a comparison of the sound from the drivers seat of a stock 718GT4 and a modified 718GT4. The stock car sounds fantastic from the drivers seat. I’d love to hear something better. Most of us don’t drive from the rear diffuser so hearing these videos from a camera 6” above the tailpipe don’t really mean much more than the videos of stock cold start idling against a brick wall.

Yep this is a sane approach. Mics hanging off the back bumper are a good alternate take to see how nice this might sound from a bystander’s POV but the in cabin recording I guess is the most important.

P.S. I’m more of a Midnight Train to Georgia kind of guy myself. Looks like you are going to need a tip jar.

totally agree. I’d love to hear drivers seat sound recording in low, high rpms, up and downshifts. I don’t care about the sound outside!

Easily done. The significant sound quality improvement, to my ears at least, is just as noticeable on the inside as is highlighted with the comparisons recording the sound from the outside of the car.

Don’t just take my word for it. A recent customer review on the Pistonheads forum, he touches on the interior sound. As we deliver more orders and more owners get to enjoy the improvements I’m sure there will be many more mirroring this feedback

This is a little disconcerting, the exhaust should not affect cylinder deactivation, assuming that is what he is referring to?

Or is it just that the JCR exhaust modifies the sound such that it is not as audible when cylinder deactivation occurs?

Yeah that’s not the case. Owner didn’t realise that it was possible to turn off with the auto stop start button so got a little confused

Heres a couple requests.
stock vs just opf delete
stock vs opf delete plus exhaust
Do you think this will make power or do you need to change the cats? A dyno or dragy pulls would be nice altho both are highly variable.
Honestly if i had the option i would start with headers with high flow cats plus opf delete, and leave the stock muffler. Remove as much back pressure as possible with the least drone. But id end up doing the whole thing at the end of the day

I'd like to hear;
Stock Vs Headers + OPF delete + OEM catback.
Stock+JCR catback Vs Headers + OPF delete + JCR catback.

Another example of what I think is evidence that the stock car sounds great from the driver's seat. Skip to :56.
