IMHO, unless you are into collecting different versions of Boxster and unless the GTS 4.0 was giving you the "I just gotta have it.." feeling why bother?

The urge to buy a new car will pass and you can get on to the real reason to have any of these cars, driving!

Good decision methinks based upon your comments over time. The green spec looks amazing!

Currently they seem to be quite rare, my dealer has only had one Boxster GTS allocation so far.

I was second on my dealer’s list for a cayman. Don’t know if the first person ordered or not. Got the call yesterday to place a downpayment on a car with delivery in December and reserved it.

Looks like GTS 4.0 are much rarer (harder to get) than GT4/Spyder. Will be interesting to see the final production numbers.

Count me among those considering a 718 Boxster GTS 4.0. I recently sold a 991.1S PDK coupe in agate over full red leather as I've come the realization I prefer open cars and manual transmissions for my toys. That car was fine as a DD but I have a Macan (in the same colors!) that gets tapped for that far more often and with the pandemic I'm not commuting anymore either (and may not be for awhile). I loved the NA flat 6 soundtrack with PSE, but I just found the coupe to be too isolated and the PDK, while magical, to lack reward.

I've been considering CPO Targas and Cabs and somehow overlooked the new GTS that is hitting all the right notes. Better suited for the roads where I drive than the Spyder, better color options., and a bit less expensive to boot.

Miami blue is tempting but I'm a sucker for red interior (and can't quite stomach a Superman livery).

Here's my build in agate, bordeaux/black, body colored wheels/hoops and a red top. Now I just need to find an SF Bay Area dealer with a build slot...

(though Miami with the black/chalk GTS interior is tempting too!)

Looking great. I've got a GT Silver Cayman GTS 4.0 on order with bordeaux/black interior. There was someone on here posting about a Bay Area dealer with an allocation just a couple days ago, might have been Walnut Creek.

Would Spyder wheels fit on a Boxster GTS 4.0?

Wondering the same thing myself, would love to put the Spyder wheels on my forthcoming GTS 4.0. Fronts are the same 8.5" on both cars. Rears are 10.5" on 718 GTS and 11" on Spyder.

So the Soyder has 30mm wider rear tires on only 0.5” wider rear rims. This is why the tires looked a bit stretched (narrow for the rim) on the GTS 4.0 pics.

The only 2 issues which are minor are the tire diameters. The 235/35 and 265/35 are 26.5 and 27.3 in. 3% speedo error. The gt4 tires are 245/35 and 295/30 at 26.8 and 27 in. Less than 1% speedo error.
my thoughts are how does the 0.3 shorter rear tire make the wheel gap look (probably not bad because the tire will stick out more), and how will the smaller speedo error affect traction control programming (it shouldnt because the delta will be 2%)

Orange is gts 4.0 and green is gt4 (offsets per suncoast website)

for the gts 4.0 i would personally just buy ps4s in gt4 sizes and slap them on the stock gts 4.0 rims...

Following this part of the thread because of the tire size questions heights and speedo/TC effects... I am thinking of a 305/30 for the second set of tires (all season) because they have a narrow tread in the OEM size even when going to 305. Currently the 295 UHP tire has a tread with of 10.8" and 27" tall versus the 305 AS comes in at 10.4" and 27.2" tall.

FWIW I saw questions about tire gap and how far out the tire is on the rear with the Spyder wheel, here is mine:
