Which would mean new tranny with higher torque limit or no extra power?

Seems contrary to the RS formula. Also means that a GT4 PDK (assuming that's still coming) would be faster than a GT4RS 6MT unless the GT4RS has significantly more horsepower which is also contrary to the RS formula.

Do dealers have separate lists for gt4 and gt4rs? Manual only would be a surprise. Even if i get crazy lucky with a gt4rs spot, this car is probably 18 months from the first owner getting their hands on it

I hope Porsche won't deceive those who are waiting for proper changes in the gearing point... If we are again about long gears, I won't even look at her on the side...

Mine does. Last RS with a manual only was the 997 4.0 IIRC

Then they should use the same gearbox for the 718 Never heard anyone complaint about it. Do you have any kind of outrageous taxes on those kind of vehicles in the US by the way?

I'm just as surprised as everyone else, but that is what my cleaning lady passed along to me. Question is will they use a detuned GT3 engine or more output out of the 718 GT4 engine to get more power.

If that's true, count me out for the RS and I'll take the PDK GT4.

Also, doubt it would be the GT3 motor. It would be *too* good at that point. They'll take the easy/safe/cheap route and bump up the new GT4 engine to 450-460hp probably.

Depends on who you talk to and in which state they live.

Parts of CA get the pleasure of paying a 10% sales tax with no trade-in credit.

if manual only I think it will be a gt3 motor. I can’t see a manual gt4rs being faster than the pdk GT4.

They are not using a GT3 engine. People have been spreading this rumour since the 981 GT4 was announced.

They've stated in multiple interviews that there's a few things they can do to get more power out of the 718 GT4's engine in the future.

The last paragraph in this interview with Walliser, head of sports cars for Porsche, would seem to indicate there are no firm plans to go further upmarket on the 718.
