At dinner all he could talk about is how comfortable the RS is and “all the creature comforts” in comparison to his older Lamborgini that he drives regularly. Specifically the seats are so much better in the porsche(buckets).

He doesn’t read forums, doesn’t know porsche much. Thought the 4RS is a buttercup. All perspectives I guess.
agreed, I’ve been dailying a mix of vintage cars (911’s etc) and when I jump in the 4RS it feels luxurious.

exactly. it really just depends what you're coming from. compared to other new cars. it feels extreme. compared to old sports cars. it feels tame.
the loud factor is more real in europe than here due to the delta in average highway speeds relative to the gearing.
like i said, compared to my 997, its tame. compared to my G wagen, its abusive.
it's all relative.

Agree 100% the "too loud" narrative is overblown. Seems to come mostly from people who don't own the car. Imo sound level is fine up to 5000. Who does extended WOT above 5000 except at the track anyways? And even at the track, for how long? Plus, with helmet, I just don't see the problem.

Also agree 7th is too short. Makes highway cruising impractical and unpleasant. Imo 1st is also a tad too short.

agree. for all the complaints about the regular GT4 being too long of gears, the RS is a bit too short IMO. 1st and 7th could both be slightly longer.

I'd love to see some review of the E46 CSL and the 4RS. Both have very very famous intake noises. Both are 2 Pedals with "lesser" versions offering Manual experiences...

I have a non-CSL 6MT E46 M3. Drove a friend's CSL in the Netherlands. That SMG was beyond terrible. And the sound from the carbon airbox came across as just another layer of raw, worrisome metallic grinding noise from that overrated S54 engine which sounds like it'll explode every time you rev it past 6K. The E46 M3 is one of the most overrated cars ever. That, from someone who's owned 4 M's. No idea why so many rate it as the best M3. The driveline has the most annoying slack in it so that every time there's a torque reversal (on/off throttle) it snaps and clunks. You have to be super gentle with the clutch and throttle to avoid the clunk. Even the Getrag 6MT box in the non-CSL is notchy as hell. EVO in their ECOTY test nailed it when they called the E46 M3 "unflowing."

I have a 6MT GTS 4.0, and now a 4RS. The GTS is arguably the most "flowing" car I have ever owned. Ok, the suspension is too soft. Other than that, love that car. Still trying to sort out how I feel about the 4RS. Love the stout suspension. The grainy metallic induction sound is interesting but prefer a proper tight, high-pitched exhaust wail over it. PDK is great at speed but distinctly "unflowing" in street driving.

I’m lucky enough to own both. 4rs intake noise makes the csl seem tame :-). Csl is really good and smg is more than fine. They need to be properly fettled though. Both at home at spa last week.

Default Launch Control

4RS owners,

success with launch control? Any particular buttons need to be pressed/depressed? Launch control in non-GT pdk, the sport button has to be pressed. For us, this does not exist. Will it still work if TC is turned off? I haven’t had the melons to just try it yet. Also, traveling and don’t have my owners manual on me and was curious after watching some YouTube vids.

Can’t argue with much of what they said I felt the same way when I got in the car I’ve only driven 300 miles, so I’m no authority but the car is a special car for a special purpose. I would not call this a daily driver..
These guys make nice videos…
hats off them
thx for posting 👍

That drone they captured on the street drive, is that accurate? Also these guys will never be satisfied with any gearing LOL. Everything is “too long”.
