Im a big proponent of the Winged version over Touring for the 992, but that delta is too big to be explained by the wing (or manual vs PDK) - must’ve been some other explanation for such a huge difference…

Looks like we have a winner - Seb Vettel 1:11 - I subscribe auto motor und sport - find it really good, probably the best of the car mags for technical insight and also their super test series. CB is the driver for the super tests and also competes in VLN and adac24hr rennen. He's a very good amateur driver. I suspect round the ring he could have found more time, but those damp patches would have forced him to go carefully. Dry 20 degree day he would shave of 3s based on previous drives.

If you have a look at the SA article there is a clear tire difference between the 992 GT3 and 911R (in favour of the 992 GT3) - compare the lateral G numbers

The tires make a huge difference on these cars - if you're not using CUP2R you're not in the game in relation to track times.

Anyone think it is possible to order GT4RS withe the race tex dash as a CXX option? I don't care for the crazy price on all the CF parts of WP but would like a RACE TEX dash instead of leather?

Love how 3 snobs liked your negative comment insulting a car that isn;t a porsche. Why is an M4 a bad track car?

I'm not going to destroy my scuderia and my gt3rs was my daily. Track cars u have to be ready to essentially destroy, they take a beat down unless you're sunday driving. PPF is the tip of the iceberg for the wear and tear on your car pal

CXX interior stuff is pricey, guessing it would be the cost of the WP to do it. I think doing the seats custom is $8k. Makes zero sense but it is what it is.

Its not a good track car - under braked, poor suspension set up and over weight. You have to do a fair bit to one to make it truly useable and competitive on track even at club level. These days the M cars are more muscle than motorsport.

im not insulting because it’s not a Porsche, plenty of good track cars that aren’t Porsches. M4 is heavy, awful brakes and awful steering. Oh, and unreliable to boot… Spun crank hub

Why BMW struggles to make a performance car that does have a "thing" is beyond me... Venos, subframe, rodbarrings, throttle actuators, crank hubs, etc... just seems like their strategy of making many different engines that are more bespoke in their "special" versions like the Ms isnt working. Sure, if you sort one they work great... but when I think of how much I have spent over the years on modding my BMWs to do track duty while being daily drivable, it sickens me. mind you, never had a major issue... but you hear the horror stories and you live with the car in fear.
I know all cars have things... but Porsche at least gets that their cars will be bought to be driven hard. so they test and develop/engineer them for that. Then again, IMS... ugh.

under braked?

are you joking? If u said any gen M3 before the f82 I would actually agree…but ut clearly a potato

my m4 legit braked better than my gt3rs did around the street at anything under 70mph with pagids not even joking. Do you know how big those rotors are?

and 3500 is heavy? Compared to what? A c6 z06 or gt3rs?

clearly u clowns don’t track often

go buy ur gt4rs and take it clowns and coffee so u can feel better about ur life. A heavy tracker would never talk down about an m4, they’re way better than that

LOL - what can I say. Its a car mate and the M4 is not a very good track car and hasn't been for a long time. You literally have to gut them to make them competitive even at entry level motorsport - this means taking weight out and a lot of it, you have to replace all the suspension and as a minimum the front brakes as well. Add to that nothing can compensate for the ****ty DCT change logic. BMW and blowhard are synonymous.

The only thing you need to do to a GT car is add the front half of the cage.

I think you took the comment too seriously as I know James was just teasing you...a little bullying?
But love your over-reacted snob reply without knowing anything about those people, including me....currently have and F80 ZCP M3, so yeah....I can clearly opinion about it and like it for what it is.
