Interesting catch. Looks like it might be the case and if so, looks like it's cutting the difference between the current GT4 and the GT4 PCCB size with the irons. Wonder if the PCCB option will be from the 992 GT3 then?
The interesting thing about the 992 GT3 front brakes is that the hats aren't as wide so maybe they leveraged that to help with wheel offset/placement. Or maybe all our heads will explode and they did it because they pulled the whole GT3 front setup with double wishbone front suspension and put it on the RS. Highly unlikely, but curious they are using 992 GT3 brakes when the GT4 brakes have been used on 991 GT3 and RS models with success.

Maybe because aftermarket replacements like AP & Giro cutting into their business and PAG doesn't like that. Look at tire sizing for 991, 992GT3s & RSs. GT4 also used a non-conventional setup.

The caliper location would be different had PAG gone with a double wishbone front suspension. Just compare the front axle between the 992 GT3 and the 718 GT4 RS
Seems improbable that they would be able to fit front double wishbones on the front of the 982 chassis (or the 991 chassis for that matter...) The chassis would have had to have been designed with someplace for the upper A arms to mount to from the start.

I don't see how it will be possible at all. I've gotten rocks stuck between the caliper and the barrel running 19"s. Not a great sound.
Yeah, with OZs on my 981 GT4 I had issues. The Forgelines I use now on my 718 GT4 have plenty of clearance, but I doubt it will work with 408mm rotors.

I do see the 992 GT3 calipers shifted down compared to the GT4/GT4RS. If they need to be in that orientation to clear the suspension, then I'm still curious then why then went with the 992 GT3 rotors...unless they just did it because they were in the parts bin and offer better performance. Similar choice on the shifter I guess as well, move to the newer parts.
Yeah, Porsche wants their cars to be driven but yet a lot of their design features are for the C&C crowd, those that don't track and/or those with external support like crews or dealers.
