Got my phone call today. If you want, the bid is $50K ADM. What’s your offer? Allocations aren’t out yet. But dealers are firming up what it’s going to take.

A couple of other dealers in the Midwest still thinking $100K is possible.

Lots of options for a $200K sports car.

Insanity.

Yes. The wrench breaks down and has a case that fits just right in the frunk. I used to trailer, but the wrench stays in the car unless it’s on track. Doesn’t do me a damned bit of good anywhere else.

Same. Maybe I'd do $20k over depending on what the base price ends up being. But $50k means it'll be a close to $200k car and that doesn't really make sense to me. Other stuff I'd rather have at that price point.

Google "torque multiplier." Fits in the trunk just fine along with a decent sized torque wrench and is smaller/lighter than the crazy long breaker bars.

GT3 guys stopped crying about centrlocks 10 years ago, time to move on.

The base Cayman starts from 60k, but GT4RS will probably start from 140k and 200k after ADM. Most of 718 buyers won't be interested or affordable in purchasing a 200k car, but how many 911 buyers would prefer a GT4RS to GT3?
So I think the market won't be that crazy as GT3, thus hoping there's a big chance for us to get this unicorn at a reasonable price.

Market is relatively small, less flippers playing the bidding game, good news for porsche fans at this forum, Isn't it?

Yep - I have one that breaks down and fits in the frunk. I almost got stranded in south Dallas in my 3RS on a road rally a couple of years ago because no tire place has a 450 lb.ft torque to get it off and plug the tire and install it. Literally a local employee had to go home at and get his personal torque wrench to help me at a discount tire.

If this is what happens... honestly... it'll feel like a kick in the nuts to a whole generation of Cayman fans. They've been begging for this for years, always saying how the Cayman has been held back and could be so much better etc. etc. If Porsche finally builds the one they've all wanted... but then none of them can buy one because they're not making enough so the prices go to the stratosphere... and then they cancel the whole platform and go electric or something... just... what heartbreak!!

If there's one very special car that they should just make as many of as they can sell... this is the one. For fans, there's no waiting for the next one. No hoping maybe they can get the .2 if they can't get this one. This is one and done.

This is a much more accurate and safe solution. Needs to be more broadly available though.

Nah. That's a neat engineering solution to a problem that shouldn't exist. The big problem with it, and the reason it won't take off, is that it needs specific centerlock nuts for it to work and they're a bit ugly. Since the entire raison d'être for the centerlocks is to look pretty, this just isn't gonna fly.
I expect the people with the money to spend on this would go with the one posted earlier which is similar but doesn't need the non-standard nuts. Hopefully that plastic part that braces against the wheel spoke won't do any damage over time.
At the end of the day, the people who are dealing with them themselves are just gonna buy the manual tools for the job. Us peasants will get the giant bars and the ballers will get the fancy torque multipliers.

Look for any cup car at the track and you'll find the big torque wrench to borrow. The Precision Instrument item that I and most others use is a split beam type that holds adjustment well. Happy to loan it.

That costs $5,200. https://www.dundonmotorsports.com/pr...-torque-system

It would cheaper to convert your car to 5 lug.*
