So... 991.2 GT3 time was 8 seconds slower. On this huge track... how much of that is made up with the C2R tires? Are they pretty much equal or is the 4RS faster?
better tires could easily account for the entire gap.

Seems to be the hot topic when a new car is launched, the time differential from the last generation. Seems to come down in large part to tires. Interesting to see that the R compound will be an option.

The R tires are a pretty big deal. The 992 GT3 is 17 seconds faster than the 991.2 GT3 and has only 10hp more. Have to believe the rubber plays a big role (as well as aero and suspension).

And much of the track is newly resurfaced.
Regardless, it will be an amazing car, surely ruined by unobtanium allocation games and remarkable ADM's. This is likely a $160k+ car in the US once it's all said and done.

It is often overlooked in ring times. Marketing department always use this to their advantage with lines like "This is xxx seconds faster than a CGT!" Well, tire technology have improved from 10+ years ago. If you put brand new R tires on the CGT I'm sure it will change the lap time dramatically...
The excitement surrounding this car is immediately squashed by the realization that dealers are going to do everything in their power to shaft their customers. Sad that PAG doesn't seem to care.
I sold my Speedster because it was too costly for how little I use it. A Spyder RS would be a special keeper.
I agree. The hard part is which of those to get if one of the lucky few that has those options. I assume the 50RS, Spyder RS and GT1?
.
I like your thinking of the Spyder RS vis-a-vis the Speedster.
Not heard much about the 50RS, or is that the next 992 GT3 RS?
Anyone know when we can inquire about allocations/waitlists?
Most folks have had their names down at dealers since 2015/2016. The VIP's will get first dibs as always, everything else will come down to how much of an ADM you might be willing to pay.
It won't (it's the law) - any new car MY2018 or newer is required to have a backup camera. It needs the center screen (and therefore radio) for the camera.
