Small detail.. but I hope the GT4RS keeps a clean no-button wheel.. I dislike the volume controls and other stuff which is now even on the 992 GT3 wheel.
EDIT: I just realized the absurdity of my post.. if it's on GT3 wheel it's now on GT4... I so loved the clean pretty wheel from 981/991 GT series

Many race cars have a myriad of buttons and displays on their wheels, just look at Formula 1:
Buttons and lights... lots of them!

Porsche already handicapped the GT4 from the start with only 414 hp to leave room on the same engine platform for upgrades to create the forthcoming RS. Look at how much horsepower can be gained by just opening up the exhaust let alone tweaking the software. Some folks think getting 30 hp and tq from just an exhaust upgrade is impossible or unlikely on a normally aspirated engine. This might be true when the car has been optimized from the factory, but not in this case. Porsche just detuned the motor to fit the niche that they wanted for the GT4 so as to leave room for the RS. They did the same thing with the 981 Cayman S vs the 911 of the same era. The same 3.4 liter motor made 315-325 in the 981s and 350 in the 911. Like most agree, I suspect we will likely get a GT4 RS that has about 440-450 hp just like the motors that BGB and Deman have building for years on 4.0 liter upgrade motors. If they were going to give us a 500 hp GT3 motor in the RS, why would they have choked the base GT4 down to just 414. Just doesn't make any sense or follow any of Porsche's typical playbooks.

The 4.0 is slightly strangled but not that much, I suspect that the RS could well have slightly upgraded heads and/or cams to make it a comfortable 450 ish after they put all the emissions stuff back on. If they only use the ECU and a slightly more free flowing exhaust I don't see them passing 440 PS.
It's worth remembering that the 9A2 Evo is based on a turbocharged engine and as such it may be a bit limited in terms of the head design and valve size + angle. I wish there was more technical info available on it.

what about the possibility just use 992 GT3 head units, same bore and stroke..
Porsche said they hesitated/troublesome turned engine 180deg from 911 platform to 718 architecture, turning head shouldn't be that much trouble, right?

I'm guessing it has 460hp or more. This is what Chris3963 has said in another post somewhere and he seems to be consistently spot on with his Intel. No skin in the game as I love my manual!

It is always fun to postulate as to what Porsche will do but in the end we will have to simply wait and see.

I think that it is a stretch to think that the NA engine in this family uses the same head design or valve sizes considering the differences in bore and stroke, additionally the 3.0l is turbo charged and the 4.0l is not, in order for the NA engine to reach better volumetric efficiency the valve geometry would be tailored to suit non-forced induction.

I really hate to do this to everyone...again...you have my word though that this is the last time I'll do it to you!
I just saw the next Cayman race car. It is going to be rather epic and it now makes sense to me what you're seeing in all those spy photos and videos.
Much like I said last time, you will all be very happy!
Cheers!

Yep… have been anticipating that the RS will launch/ be announced alongside the new GT4 Clubsport in time for next race season, with a lot of features matched between them.
I would be surprised if the race car doesnt also now adopt the 4.0 9A2.
