Even 7 would be a big improvement (current PDK has 6 performance gears and one more - shortened, but still not a performance gear as top speed comes in 6th). I wouldn't be surprised to see the RS use the GT4's PDK but with a lower final drive that allows the use of 7th for top speed.
Maybe they'll also add the electronically controlled LSD like in the PDK version of the GT3.
I think the 8spd would add even more weight.

Here is an email I received when I reached out to PCNA before the PDK was released and I believe I've read it too in their press release.
***Thank you for your e-mail, and your interest in Porsche. While I have no information on gear ratios on the 718 Spyder equipped with the optional PDK, it appears that the PDK on the GT version of 718 (GT4 and Spyder) will reach their top track speed in 7th gear, which is typical of past GT models such as the 911 GT3, GT3 RS and GT2 RS.
Kind regards,
Frank

My understanding is that things did not end up this way. I’ve seen the numbers months ago (and don’t remember where). Maybe someone can post (and my apologies if I’m wrong).

For the current 718 Clubsport, it uses the PDK from the base 981. 7th gear is locked out by programming. There are a few motorsports parts like the diff, but otherwise it's the same.

Bud.....I own a 981 CS....so ya. I've heard all the stories and tales about how the inflection point on them is 10k miles. The PDK's in the Clubsports are one of the least reliable parts in the entire car.

Agree.
RBR has no clout nor loyalty to the brand. Watch his content for entertainment (his CGI additions), nothing else.
Negative, it will continue to use the current systems.

I'm not sure what you're trying to accomplish with all this. 7th gear is going to be a taller gear than 6th. I'm pretty sure you can just look up the ratios to see what RPM you'd be at for 188 mph in either gear. You can almost certainly get there in 6th gear because 7th is meant for cruising at lower RPM's.
