How will that affect the sound?

It should sound identical to a car that comes with an active GPF in place. Personally I think that is another reason Porsche did this, to keep them sounding the same no matter the market.

Got an email from my SA yesterday. The message was a little confusing, but it sounds like the previous early-June build date is now unknown, with no updated new build date from Porsche. I was told it could be a "long time" before I get the car (unclear what that means). Anyone else with at least V200 status and an expected June/July build date hearing anything from their dealers?

Right now there is so much going on at the factory level, they are just back going after 6 weeks of idle time, they are adjusting to new processes of physical distancing and building cars, they are dealing with supplier delivery adjustments and more...

I think it will take a number of days yet before anyone can claim to know how things are sorting out for both production and deliveries, I was at the dealership yesterday and chose not to ask because until things settle down a bit I don't trust they know for sure, give it some more time...

Hey @Spyder8286 , My GT4 was originally a June build that shifted to July 3rd in April as the plant shut down. As of May 5th they are showing a build date of 7/17.

Hearing that a few people on here were getting their 2020 MY allocations reissued with 2021 MY allocations, I was a little concerned. I had specced Miami Blue and it has been confirmed that it is being dropped with the transition to the 2021 MY. There is a very good chance it is being replaced by Shark Blue, which is already on the 992 2021 order guide, teased in the Taycan Super Bowl commercial and in Paint Supplier systems. The paint code (D5C, D7, LD5C) is the same as Volkswagen's Cornflower Blue... which is very similar to Voodoo Blue. I personally prefer Miami as it feels more unique to me.

My SA just sent me the below updated build schedule. Luckily my allocation continues as a 2020 MY as does Miami Blue. Looks like a two month delay for my Spyder, meaning I get to enjoy it for a quick bit before winter. Not sure how Porsche determined which allocations stayed and which moved to 2021. I also have a Chalk Macan ordered which just arrived into Port Benicia, hopefully get delivered within a week or two. So not sure if that helped prioritize my Spyder allocation or not?

Curious how many Miami Blue Spyders/GT4s will be produced before being dropped? Might be a pretty rare color for the Spyder/GT4?

@n4v4nod thanks for the update, still I believe that with dates in the future they are still subject to change (nothing new there), personally I doubt having a Macan in the system had anything to do with the Spyder, no reason it would.

When I look at the Expected Dates they are weeks in the future, Porsche has (I believe) some period of adjustment to go through in the factory before they hit their stride, we all need to take a breath as hard as that might be, I trust they want to get our cars out as soon as possible!

BTW, I have my fingers crossed for you that your car gets to you soon and in Miami Blue!

Me too n4v4nod, GB seems to be the hot pick for a blue. With the change up I'm thinking MB will be a rarer bird on Spyder/GT4.

My dealer sent me some info from Porsche yesterday, don't know how informative it is but...

718 2020/21 MY changeover dates: Last relevant quota month=August; Change Freeze Point=6/25/20; I assume that means if your build has a freeze date after 6/25, you will be getting a 2021 model year.

I currently have a 6/9 freeze date and 9/18 delivery date. I imagine if there are any more delays, I'll get pushed into 2021.

Very good to know for any of us in and around the June dates... thanks for sharing.

@n4v4nod thanks for the info on color - really helpful to see the paint code. My current car is Lotus Daytona Blue which is near identical to voodoo and I find it the perfect mix of fun/playful yet aggressive enough for the car. I passed on my allocation in March and am now thankful for waiting. Best of luck with your MB Spyder.

I just got an update on my GT4 build, lock date moved to 6/26 estimated arrival at dealership 10/23. No mention of it changing to a 2021 MY. Pre COVID the dates were 6/3 and 8/29 respectively, and last update mid April they were 7/6 and 10/23. So my lock date moved up about ten days but the delivery date stayed the same since mid April.

I agree with the others here...…. I believe this still is very fluid, as the post above indicated the 2021MY switchover is a day before my lock date, according to that person's SA. Other posts have alluded that if this happened that the 2020MY allocation would be cancelled and a new 2021MY allocation would be issued. So confused now I don't know what to think! My SA says mine still will be a 2020.
