A few more days added to the trip. Originally the Siem Cicero did not show a trip to Mexico on the itinerary. 3 days to Mex, 2 days to unload etc, 3 days to Freeport, and so on. 2-4 weeks before arriving at Dallas? Moving on like a raging herd of turtles. Sigh.

My app updated a couple of hours ago and said, "Your Porsche is at the local entry port being readied for its final journey" at Track Your Dream.

Well I got a demand order in with my dealer. If it turns into an allocation it will be in the first or second quarter of next year (maybe 3rd if they are still building them). Here is my build codes as of now: PS97MMQ0 - https://configurator.porsche.com/en-...dFrom=PS97MMQ0
I like the look of the 20" Carrera Sport Wheels - and they are in my build now, but I am tempted to just go with the 19" Boxster S wheels. The S wheels will be a lot more compliant and I can save a bunch of money... also I can get them powder coated easily.
I also spec'd Navigation with Porsche Connect but does anyone know if that provides much benefit? Apple CarPlay does not integrate with the it does it? I could save a bunch by removing that if it's not worth it.
Anyway, let me know your thoughts.

There are several threads on the value of NAV. It's debated but in the day and age of great cell phone apps (Waze, Google and Apple maps, etc) I think it's a total waste of money. I have NAV (my car was purchased pre-built in 2018 from inventory) but often use Waze instead and would not have spec'd it if ordering. The argument for NAV is that the maps are available if you're traveling in an area without cell service and you don't know where you're going. I haven't had that happen.

Breny4104, skip the NAV, not worth it. A cheap Garmin will do the trick for a few $$$. And where do you plug in the Garmin? Opt for the smoking pkg, free 12V outlet installed, nice looking finish for the center console otherwise. I like black wheels with red, I like color matched supplemental safety bars. Your choice, your car, get started on the journey (+- 5 months) to a nice car. I wouldn't wait too long.

There are many 2024 Boxster S's in dealer inventory - it seems - but I prefer to order one and get it in 2025, at least I hope that's how it works out.
The other 12V socket is in the passenger foot well, right? Good idea to get the smoking package then.

Those wheels on post #455 are the best IMO, so I splurged for those. And CarPlay is MUCH better than any factory nav I've ever had (plus there are other apps too, as mentioned above), so no way I'd have paid extra for it, especially over 2 grand. Plus the nav on Caymans is absolute crap, and infuriating to use (I had it on my ex-'16 Cayman GTS). As an FYI, our cars have Bluetooth 2.1, which came out in 2007 (it's 5.3 now), so that tells you how freaking old our infotainment system is. I'm surprised it doesn't have a cassette player (although it has a little door that looks like one. Ha ha). Just hope the darn thing is compatible with my iPhone 15 Pro Max. Finally, there's no drawback of skipping nav, BUT if you're on a long trip, and/or middle of nowhere, just download the maps (at least with Google), so you can still use CarPlay without cell reception (GPS still works). Plus I don't need Wi-Fi either, or anything else that PC offers, so the decision to skip Porsche Connect/NAV was an easy one for me, even though I skipped very few options.

Thanks for the response! I removed the NAV and dropped the 20" wheels for the 19" S wheels, which I'll powder coat in Satin Black. I think the Apple CarPlay is standard in the PCM4 (at least in the 2024 MY and hopefully 2025 MY)) so won't need the Garmin unless I'm out in the sticks with no cell coverage.

23 for all 50 states sounds very low imo but I do not think you will have trouble getting an allocation for a new order. Good luck!

Yeah, I'm removing NAV, especially since the 781 (982) platform comes with Apple CarPlay. The configurator and 718 Model page don't seem to mention CarPlay or Android auto which is odd. I did find a press release from 2023 that shows that the platform does and you can also see CarPlay if you zoom into the dash photo in the configurator.

I'm almost sure our 718s come with CarPlay only, which is odd, because it's the first time I see only one of the 2 being offered. We're an Apple household, so I didn't look any further into that issue, but it's totally unacceptable not to be Android compatible on a $100K+ car. I bet that is a deal-breaker for many. GM lost many C8 buyers when they ditched both CP and AA in '24, in favor of a proprietary system that requires a subscription. No way I'd go for that either.
