Ugh. I'm seriously getting reluctant to take mine to the track this spring. This is scary stuff and it's happening more than enough for it to just be "random".

8 weeks for me as of today. Still no ETA from the dealer on any sort of resolution or a new transmission.

Well- Rennlist might not believe this but all Porsche owners are not all on Rennlist. !! There are many more transmission failures than we know. There are 3 right now at one dealership here !! 3.. They are out of transmissions and may be repairing returned ones I fear until a fix. My friend and I are expecting his to fail again next season. Maybe at same event !!

i believe its June 16 (same as mine ,great). I still think the data base should be sent to who ever is in charge of warranty @ Porsche in Atlanta or the president of Porsche USA. Ask if they have a cause and perhaps a production number of cars affected and a solution.

i went through this with BMW and the E46 M3 with rod bearings. At first they blamed owners but after pressure from the forum they did a recall and gave owners a 100,000 mile engine warranty. carl

Porsche replaced engines in the 14s because they were a fire danger. The GT3 motors are failing again now (no fire) and Porsche is replacing them when they fail, nothing pro-active. Don't hold your breath for a recall of any kind.

Actually PAG is having the heads removed for evaluation. There's a good chance a new set of heads is all the owner will get with worn finger followers.

Recalls are typically (but not always) for issues which can pose safety risks (GT3's catching on fire). So far it does not seem like there are any direct safety risks from loss of 3rd gear....the car is still operational and can be controlled safely.

If people really want to argue, I am sure we could think of some scenarios, but I am speaking generally here.

I received a call from PCNA asking about ownership and if I had any concerns. I mentioned this transmission failure and the person didn't seem to react. Their response was you have 4-year / 50,000 mile warranty and if you suspect any issues please bring the car into a certified dealer/service. To me it seems like they will handle the issue as it happens, rather than go for a massive recall. They also mentioned you get towing as part of your roadside coverage. My thoughts are just drive it and when it goes, bring it to Porsche and they will fix it. It's better to have them fix it than you pay later. At least, that's how I interpreted the conversation.
