i went through this with BMW and the E46 M3 with rod bearings. At first they blamed owners but after pressure from the forum they did a recall and gave owners a 100,000 mile engine warranty. carl

Is March 2016 still the earliest impacted build date (any Feb's?)?

So from the looks of this thread, it sounds like if we bought a GT4 made in the latter 2/3 or so of 2016, we should basically expect third gear to fail at some point at the track...? Not that it's guaranteed to happen, but I feel like the implication is that it's very common.

Seems reasonable.

also sound like anyone getting a new transmission/repaired one will get the same problem. I hope it gets resolved. Terrible feeling to think there is a ticking timebomb....much like the GT3 owners I guess. Maybe it's just a Porsche GT car feeling.

Actually, the possible engine issue with my GT3 bothered me a lot more than 3rd gear in the GT4.

haven't seen much posting on this topic lately so I figured I'd share.

SA just called and said transmission arrived on Monday and I should have my car ready tomorrow.

So for me it's only been less than a month turnaround. Hopefully, others get their cars back soon too!

Dealer received transmission this week. Was damaged in transit. New one due next week!

That 3 that I know of. The shipping boxes are as bad as the transmissions.

That's lame. Adds insult to injury! I hope everyone has their car back to 100% ASAP so you can continue to enjoy it!

Reminds me when my gt4 camshaft failed and Porsche had to replace cylinder head but it was damaged not once, but TWICE in transit from germany!

Yes, there is no excuse for shipping damage. Packaging engineering is a science just like any other applied science. And it ain't rocket surgery either.....

They're made from recycled transmissions.
