Early 964s didn't have a head gasket . Another engerinerg milestone to reduce cost .
Oil return tube seals on all the air cooled cars..
And don't forget those lovely uncoated dilavar head studs in the 3.0s...

But as Mooty implies, for a low volume performance car manufacturer, Porsche is the best of the bunch...

Either fix the issue itself instead of providing the same faulty transmission or provide assurance that any failures in the future will be covered by PCNA. I don't think it's greedy to ask for a longer warranty limited to the transmission if this happens again...
yes it WILL happen again, in fact i know some ppl had that happen AGAIN.
and it may happen 3-4x on the same car with several trans.
but at some point in future, it will get "fixed" gears.
how long will it take, i dont know.
is that good? hell no.
but i dont know how to fix it. i dont have enough money to buy VAG/PAG public. else i would just fix it.

if you only want warranty extended on trans, sure, it's not too much to ask.
but it's very hard for a large company to do that from accounting and recording point of view alone.

but in my own limited experience. if it was document that they fixed your gear box under warranty and at 60,000 miles it tanked again for same reason, they have always courtesy fixed it for me.

i dont have a good solution, but i have always found porsche to be "fair", not perfect, but fair.

The one thing i will say is my old 87 911 was a simple car. No cooling system no hydraulics no 25 control modules . The old saying was a Porsche was a VW wiith lock nuts.

I'm officially past the 1 month mark still parked and waiting for a transmission. It was supposed to come in this week but nothing arrived, and no new ETA from Porsche.

Totally sucks. Makes me wonder how many are failing in rest of the world outside of North America.

Makes you wonder if they are abandoning the welded gear and refitting the previous version. Also wonder how you would know what is in the replacement box.

Bummer.

Curious: What did they put you in as a loaner, if they offered one?

GT4 has been down since 10/17/16. 1st replacement trans was damaged in shipping, 2nd replacement trans was just installed today. Have had Macan loaner since 10/17... racked up over 2k miles on the Macan. Really impressive car, even w/ the base 2.0t motor. I'm planning to pick up the GT4 next week.
